Parent: Deerfield is the Columbia University of the Ivy League. Exeter/Andover is the Harvard/Yale. DA is compact, efficient, structured & fun. It has the hardest grading w severe grade deflation. There is only 1 GPA on a scale of 100. If you magically break 93, you are high honors. If you want the best odds of your child getting into an Ivy or Elite or Top LAC, Deerfield admit stats are up with the Top 5 feeders in the country. DA looks/feels like a country club, but the kids here work extremely hard unless you are shoo-in as recruited athlete or legacy. Regular Sit-down dinners force you to meet everyone in the school. Mandatory 1st or 2nd waiter duties teach humility. You get out of Deerfield, what you put into it because the resources are limitless. It's a tough place if your child needs coddling. But the best school if you want your kid to be an independent thinker and doer. The teachers and admin are unbelievably competent! It should be ranked 2nd/3rd but all these rankings are bunk... Senior: I am currently a senior at MacDuffie, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the past four years I have spent there. The academics are excellent, as there is a wide variety of classes supplemented by a substantial offering of honors and AP courses. The teachers are absolutely excellent as well. They truly care about what they are teaching, and they will do whatever they can to help their students succeed. As for extracurriculars, there are many ways to get involved with sports, the arts, and more outside of school, whether it is on a team, in a club, or in a CAP (co-curricular activities program). The arts facilities leave a little to be desired, but it is amazing what the arts teachers can do with what they have! Overall, these past four years have been amazing, and while I definitely feel as if MacDuffie has more than adequately prepared me for college and beyond, I will still miss MacDuffie. Go Mustangs!... Senior: Stellar. I love this school, it's a great place for me. The student body is full of kind and caring people, the teachers care about teaching, and we have a great selection of courses. The school culture is good, the sports games get good turnout, and have several very high level sports. Within my sports, and the sports I've heard about, the team cultures are all strong, and schoolmates support student-athletes. Works Here: As a contractor working with the school to set up a state of the art indoor air quality protocol to protect their staff and students, I have been amazed at their caring and unselfish approach to the upgrades on campus. Parent: We could not give a higher review of Eaglebrook. Eaglebrook "gets" boys. They focus on raising boys to have honor, kindness, compassion, responsibility, a strong work ethic, and a connection to the outdoors. Academically, wow, the teachers are excellent. The classes are rigorous; they expect a lot from the boys, but with classes of 8-10, they take the boys with them so that they can do a higher level of work. The coaches are amazing, and the boys push themselves athletically 7 days per week, which helps them in every aspect of their lives. They also provide many creative outlets for boys (stained glass, ceramics, woodworking, 3D printing, etc.) Boys can also find passion in music, the arts, journalism, robotics, etc. The boys join many clubs and activities, which helps them feel pride, leadership, and individuality. Parent: This is one of the best treasures Northampton has to offer. The teachers are devoted, amazing, and really get to know the kids. One of the most exceptional things is that because it's such a cozy school, everyone truly knows everyone. Our two kids, who are in the younger grades, know the older kids and the teachers of the older grades. The school does a fantastic job planning all-school activities. One end-of-year favorite was when students in the older grades built an "arcade" out of recycled materials and the kids in the younger grades got to play all of the games. Parent: Highly recommend! Bement is the right school to international families that want to send their young children to a faraway country. Bement has innumerable merits. Competent teachers, freimily peers, organic foods, idyllic scenery, systematic curriculum, advanced math class open, immediate communication between parents and teachers, pick-up and drop-off at the airport by Bement teachers (How relieved!) etc. Bement fulfilled my two expectations academically and emotionally. My son would say, “All the teachers are like an encyclopedia.” I also remember how energetically school nurse, dorm parents, dorm administrator, and school doctor communicated with me and set out actively to cure my son when my son’s collarbone was broken. Even though I couldn't go to US in this Corona situation, all the teachers took him to three orthopedics and connected doctors with me by video call. Senior: Lighthouse has Changed my entire perception on learning. For the first time in my life im excited to go to school and want to be there! The teachers are so supportive and find a schedule and or classes that work best for you! They’re so flexible to change and empathetic to kids who are having a rough time. I get to design my own courses and decide my own schedule completely. There are some things i miss from “regular” school, things like dances, sports games, etc. However id much rather enjoy my time at school than just the social events that come with it....
