Parent: As parents of a 3-year-old who recently started PreK-3 at Waterford, we have been impressed with the experience and qualifications of her teachers, which has had a positive impact on our daughter's behavior. We have observed that since starting at Waterford, she has developed good manners, clear communication skills, and the ability to be patient while waiting her turn. The teachers are attentive to each child and foster teamwork and collaboration among the students. Initially, we had concerns about diversity, inclusion, and academic focus at the school. However, after speaking with the administration and other parents, we learned that Waterford is committed to celebrating diversity and creating a welcoming environment for all students. Senior: UCAS is an amazing school! It's an early college high-school where you get to take tons of concurrent enrollment classes and you can graduate high school with an associates degree. I think it's fantastic! While there aren't many clubs, and we have no sports or fine arts programs, it is such a wonderful environment to learn in. The class sizes are small, allowing for more personal connection and better learning. This school encourages students to find themselves and what career paths they want to go down, and it's very helpful. You definitely need to be more academically-motivated to do well at this school, but even if you are lacking in some areas, our teachers and staff do a lot to help each student one-on-one, and you will always get the help you need. Despite the focus on academics, the small school size promotes closer friendships with students, and it's really amazing. Alum: What makes KGMPA stand out amongst other schools in Utah are the genuine teachers and their great teaching methods. Every teacher I have had truly cares about their students and their educational journeys. As it is a small school, everyone knows each other, which makes for great and lasting bonds. I will miss many of my teachers who have helped me grow my confidence in many different fields of study. The only factor about Maeser that I didn’t enjoy is the high expectations. I am a relatively average student, so being surrounded by over-achievers who have impressive resumes really provided me with a battle of comparison. Junior: I have attended St. Joseph Catholic High School since my freshman year. The school bolsters impressive academics, a variety of class choices, and excellent administration. With an average of 1 teacher for every 10 students, each student is able to get special attention and care. In some cases, I have had as few as 3 people in my class. The small school and class sizes also allow students to get to know each other well. Seldom will I see someone who I do not know in the hallway. In addition to a strong education, St. Joseph's also invests a focus on building a responsible, kind, and accountable individual through community service requirements and teacher policies. However, St. Joseph's is also a small school. This means that lunch options, sports, and various facilities are limited. Senior: Itineris Early College High School is an exceptional school. Everyone should consider putting their kids in this school. As a student myself, I have had so many opportunities at this school I wouldn't get anywhere else. For instance, Itineris offers Concurrent Enrollment and Early Enrollment college classes. This helps get high school credits, but also a chance at getting an Associate's Degree! That is one of the main reasons I went to this school. The teachers and counselors connect with the students amazingly, there are even college professors teaching here. Itineris is a STEM school so if you are interested in taking a career in that, I highly suggest this school. It gives you the college experience without officially being enrolled in one. Junior: Academically, sure, NUAMES really upholds the promise and standard for academic focus in the school. I really like being a student at the Ogden NUAMES campus which is a different experience then the main one because were on Weber states campus so we have easy access to the stores, library, centers, gym, etc. But what sucks is you have to pay out of pocket for about everything at NUAMES from lunch to textbooks & they have a lot of requirements in order to stay at NUAMES but I am grateful for the opportunities I've landed upon coming here from early college opportunities, supportive teachers, or assistance in determining my career path; however, one of the downsides for me personally is there isn't a lot of diversity; This isn't the fault of the school, but I'm uncomfortable not seeing many people who look like me or to whom I can relate. Alum: Judge is a unique place. Most kids don't like it when they are there however it prepares you for college better than anywhere else. It is a close community and leaves you with unique memories and experiences. Although it seems like a chore at times, learning about religion, specifically world religions and social justice, is enlightening and is something you won't get from other schools. The administration often doesn't understand its students but they do understand running a top school. You can find some sort of activity that fits and interests you although socially being with such a small student body can be hard at times. At the end of the day, it is excellent for academics, you'll make a few lifelong friends, and the variety of clubs and activities it offers is unrivaled. Freshman: I love this school! During this Covid season, our school has taken many many precautions to keep our school up and running and it seems to be doing wonders. Senior: I really enjoyed my environment at NUAMES. The teachers are extremely helpful and very in tune with each one of their students. They have an awesome student to staff member ratio, so every student feels very well taken care of. Academically the school is awesome and has a lot of great opportunities with early college and various other things, The only thing I would like to see changes would ne the social environment there. There isn't bullying or anything of that sort, however, it was very hard for me to feel socially involved with the school. There isn't any school spirit or events that target your average student. The school is full of very smart individuals who like science, math, and engineering. Everything was always more targeted towards those students. Parent: It’s the oldest public charter school in Utah and is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary. All three of my boys have attended all four years (5-8th) at SLArts. It’s been an outstanding school with dedicated faculty, low turnover, stellar arts curriculum including dance, music, visual arts and drama. The math/science teachers and curriculum are also outstanding. It received an A+ in the Utah Schools report card this year. If your student is an avid learner with good executive organizational skills and a passion for the arts - this is the school for you. SLArts is supportive of a diverse student body and creates an environment of deep learning. Be sure to put your child’s name into their lottery in 4th grade (usually closes by February), for consideration as an incoming 5th grader when close to 100 spots are available. Parent: What a joy it has been to find community at ICS! We chose to send our son to the pre-K program at ICS after moving to the Salt Lake area from another state. My child is thriving. His teacher is wonderful. She has been so helpful in ensuring that our son is meeting academic standards for his age, and she is always willing to share useful tips on ways to practice at home. I love having my child come home excited to tell me what they have learned at school, especially when it's precious Bible lessons. I am so thankful for the Christ centered education provided at ICS. Junior: Educatoin is a very important factor in our dad to day lives. We are nothing without knowlage. Our backrounds are what separte us from eachother and West High schools makes it feel like we are all equal. Everybody feels supported and safe. We all love West High and they know how to be a commmunity.
