Senior: Choosing this high school was one of the best decisions of my life! From amazing teachers to peers that support and get along with each other, High Technology High School provided me with the best possible high school experience I could have asked for. The academics are rigorous but manageable, and the clubs provide great opportunities to meet and become friends with others who share your interests. Junior: I am a junior at Bergen County Academies and I have had a good experience so far. The teachers at Bergen County Academies are for the most part very knowledgeable in their fields. They are willing to go above and beyond. I also appreciate the fact that the school tries to ensure college readiness through guidance seminar and an overall competitive environment. One thing that I would like to see change at Bergen County Academies is the availability of resources for students. While the school does have a lot of resources available, I feel like there could be more support for students who are struggling academically or who need extra help. Another issue students may encounter is the fact that they are locked into their chosen academy. Overall, my experience at Bergen County Academies has been positive. Freshman: I've been here since the seventh grade. I'm gonna be totally honest, it's an incredibly expensive school and my family is a high donor. Unlike in my previous school, teachers are connected. It's not one of those seemingly universalized experiences where its 50/50 about teachers caring. More like 80/20, and that 20 still have their charms. Though the student body are what really pulls it together. The makeup of the school is split down the middle between preppy party kids (that have their qualities) and the other half of the nicest, most motivated kids you'll ever meet. Though its middle/high school. There's drama. Its not always fun. The administration has some fundamental flaws. In that it seems as though they care more about their endowment then their students. Senior: The Academy for Information Technology is a great school to attend if you are pursuing a business/information technology path as a career. You have focused vocational classes teaching business to programming languages like Java. However, the school does not provide the greatest of technological resources. Students only have Chromebooks and Desktops at the school often have their issues which makes it hard to use. Funding dedication in this area isn't the greatest. He has friends from all over the world, his classes have had about 8 to 13 students in each which has translated to personalized and high-level instruction with active student engagement/participation every day, he's participated in sports and multiple activities, clubs and fundraisers all 4 years including tutoring students in Malawi, being part of the Global Studies program, and serving on the "Green Team" where he has been able to make an environmental impact. Senior: As a student who has attended the Wilberforce school from 8-12th grade with siblings currently in the lower and middle school, I have experienced much of the school in its entirety. I transferred from a local public school and a couple things I would highlight: 1. The Wilberforce school functions on a classical curriculum. Therefore, everyone takes mostly all the same classes. Personally, I love the small classes and intimate learning environment that Wilberforce fosters. Whereas I experienced a lot of Chromebook work in public school, there is a focus on discussion and paper and pen work at Wilberforce which made it easier for me to learn. 2. The teachers are AMAZING. They have not only helped me to grow in areas I previously had low confidence in (ie math, public speaking), but also have grown me as a whole person.
