Sophomore: The environment at Kents Hill is like nowhere else. After just my first year there, I felt welcomed, accepted, and encouraged to grow there. I met people from all over the world, and made friends that I know will last a lifetime. The education is also top-tier! The campus is beautiful during all seasons, the buildings are just gorgeous, and the faculty and staff are the kindest people! As a female student of color in this age, going to school in a predominantly white state, I feel safe on campus at Kents Hill- but the same unfortunately can't be said for when I leave campus. That is my only drawback though! I love Kents Hill a lot, and cannot wait to go back and meet more new people and continue my education.... Read 91 reviews

Parent: We joined the Waynflete community during the pandemic and could not have been more impressed. Coming from NYC, our frame of reference were high caliber schools, with strong academics and an emphasis on social emotional support. I wondered if the kids would experience the same in a smaller city and smaller school. I was blown away. Running a school during the pandemic is no small feat, and the administration at Waynflete handled it beautifully with clear communications and well thought out contingency plans. The kids were in school in person nearly the entire year. The small class size and individualized attention has resulted in increased confidence and grasping of new skills with openness and excitement. Both my children have learning differences and they have been supported with tutors, occupational therapy, and teachers who monitor their needs and progress with care. Senior: The school has strong ethics and intelligence. Many of the students and faculty are respected and treated as equals. Students are always challenged with their courses and can most always have an increase in difficulty level if needed. Teachers are humble and are easily approachable, but in the past few years have been leaving often. Many of the students are becoming attached to teachers that leave very soon. The change from a normal school to a boarding assesses the strengths of a student and brings them to the surface. Allowing many students to blossom as their own person able to research and find a strong career path. MSSM molds many students to a fine young adult, but because of the small bubble around MSSM few students also are heavily troubled with seclusion and find that a normal high school would be better suit. Works Here: The Lincolnville Central School is an excellent school. It is one of the few schools in the state with a growing population. Much of this is based on the reputation of the school. Student test scores are typically well above the state average scores. Academic support is well beyond that of most schools its size. The school offers many activities and sports. Junior: I'm currently a junior at Hebron and have absolutely loved my experience. The thing that has set Hebron apart from others, for me, is how accepting and welcoming the students and staff are here. I've been able to truly be myself academically and be who I am. In addition to the academics and wonderful teachers, the facilities at Hebron are unbeatable; it's another reason that I fell in love with Hebron when I first stepped foot on campus. The small, close-knit community on such a beautiful campus truly makes Hebron special. Being able to walk around school and knowing everyone you see is something special and something that can't be done at many other schools. Veterans Day community celebration is excellent, Stories project with the Farnsworth Art museum a great opportunity for 4th and 7th graders. On site ropes course provides team building opportunities for all students. Student compete on an even playing field when going on to High School. Math and ELA score at or above the state average. Senior: Cape Elizabeth is wonderful in many ways, and I’ve been lucky enough to experience the system from kindergarten to my current status of a senior in the high school. Above all the staff and administration is what has stood out to me. I really feel cared for by my teachers and counselors in this community. They always go the extra mile to support me and my peers. The student body is competitive which can bring some stress, but it also has pushed me to strive to do better. There are so many opportunities and experiences unique to Cape that I am forever grateful for. The small student body makes for a tight knit community and you will never be overlooked. Classes are challenging but mostly in a good way, and topics are relevant and interesting. Sophomore: Watershed is an amazing community. when i was first looking at possible high schools, i was most hesitant about how small watershed was, and it wasn't until i shadowed that i could really see why that was such an amazing prospect of the school! its impossible to slip through the cracks, because no matter WHO you are, you'll have both the students and teachers by your side helping you out every step of the way. another thing i appreciate about watershed is how they prepare you for the real world; rather than focusing on busy work that wont mean anything past graduation, watershed offers programs that teach you how to do taxes, how to engage in healthy debate, and how to manage stress and time management. overall, watershed is a school that cultivates creativity and critical thinking, and i would highly advise shadowing a day to understand what watershed is and how it can help you in your academic persuits....
