Parent: Sun Valley Community School is a special place in the Wood River Valley, bordering the Sawtooth mountains! The school takes full advantage of its access to the outdoors. My children enjoy the variety in their school day, as no day is like the other, except for the warm, friendly, and incredilbly talented teachers. As a parent, not having to convince or make a bargain with your child to go to school, or count down the days to the weekend, or the next break is such a relief. Both of my kids love going to school. The parent community is also wonderful and supportive. There are many community-building events that take place throughout the year. They vary from holiday events to community service, to book clubs. Senior: Renaissance High is an excellent school for academically-motivated students. From the renowned International Baccalaureate program to the ISU AA program, students have the full support behind them of everybody from faculty to administration. There is not a better Idaho high school for college preparation! Renaissance also has great facilities - it is designed to reflect many aspects of a college with open ceilings and tables+chairs throughout. With that said, Renaissance is not without its flaws. Some are turned off by the lack of athletics at RHS, which is understandable. The school allows student athletes to compete with their boundary schools, but it's simply a different experience than the other athletes. The culture at RHS is very, very progressive and some may not be comfortable with that aspect either. Some students report feeling left out or even disliked if they do not fit in with this culture. Alum: It is a good school. The small classes make it easy to learn and easy to make friends. I’ve graduated now, but when I was there I loved it. However, since I’ve gone, I’ve heard that there’s been bullying and the rules have gotten stricter. A bad thing about this school is that the rules are very tight and many of them are not important. There was a general feeling of anger towards the faculty because of that. However, the education is exceptional, and I heard that many classes are taught one grade level above what is required. When I was there, they had choir, theater, creative writing, extra math, and PE as their extracurriculars. That was a few years ago, so I expect they’ve expanded or improved on their classes. Alum: Boise high overall is a great school. The teachers and staff are all wonderful, and the classes and opportunities are quite varied with expansive options and fields of interests. The club and social scene is also really great, and a good way to meet people and get involved. We also have a variety of sports programs for all different levels and good facilities for use in these areas. The school and student council also work in conjunction to host a variety of events and engagements throughout the year, such as dances and other such activities. Football, baseball, soccer, and other games are frequent, and the student section always shows up with spirit and numbers. Overall everyone at the school is really nice, welcoming, and understanding. The kids are very passionate, smart, and kind, and the teachers and staff are all experienced, understanding and the absolute sweetest. Junior: I am currently a junior at MMACHS and attending this school has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! The staff and students are amazing people, and to me, they feel like my second family. Everything at MMACHS is amazing, whether it be the academics or the extracurricular activities. Furthermore, this school has provided me with so many opportunities that I wouldn’t have been able to experience if I was at a public Highschool. Senior: Timberline has given me a great high school experience. I love the programs they have to offer. I love the students here - I love the teachers - I love the size - it's all perfect! Senior: I've been at Liberty Charter school since 4th grade, and I'll be graduating this week from Liberty. This school has such a great community. Everyday I'm surrounded with teachers, classmates, and friends that make going to school and learning an amazing experience. The rules are a lot stricter here, but they are still reasonable and manageable, and it's all worth it to be part of such a great environment. Parent: 2020 was the worst year to start Kindergarten. All the challenges that these teachers faced. We have one teacher to thank for the amazing advancement for our twin boys and that is Sara Wolf. Sara was able to control in the sweetest and gentlest of ways and two entire online classrooms of Kindergartners to everyone’s amazement. Our boys didn’t miss a beat even during a world wide pandemic. Thank you Sara for everything you did for all of these little kids this year. We will never forget how effortlessly you made teaching online look. Also a hats off to the two ladies at the front desk who run the school. AMAZING work. This school gets an A++ from us.... Parent: We are in our 10th year at Sage and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. We started in kindergarten, and their IB program provides so much hands-on inquiry-based learning to make school fun for young learners. The teachers are all amazing. There is no school on Fridays, giving students a chance to recoup or catch up on schoolwork, and the teachers and staff have a full day each week to collaborate, prep, and learn. Their middle school and high school programs are rigorous but fair, and do a wonderful job preparing our kids for college, career, and just life in general! Senior: I enjoyed participating with Thomas Jefferson Charter School from Kindergarten through my senior year. I particularly enjoyed the staff's adaptability for each student by providing more difficult and particularly useful skills to use not only for school but for life. This school pushed me to accomplish things I never thought would be possible. I have learned valuable skills and haven't ever felt lost during my transition from High School to college. I personally wouldn't change any of the staff or practices done at this school, and all staff here are very easy to talk to and get in touch with.
