Alum: Berkely was a huge help in preparing me for college. If anything, I was way over prepared! They helped me get into my dream school of the University of Miami of which I graduated Magna Cum Laude. The teachers and faculty were incredible and always had my best interest in mind. They even sparked my interest in the career opportunity, mobile app development, through their AP Computer Science courses, of which I am currently pursuing now. Berkely has continued to support me even after graduating high-school and college. They even went as far as giving me the opportunity to apply for an investment through their new program BUC Ventures which invests in startups. Junior: As a current Junior at the Academy of the Holy Names, I am proud to call this school my second home. I never feel endangered or pressured by my peers and administration, and since I am a high school swimmer, I tend to stay after school up until 7:00pm, all while being under safe supervision. While I have only been attending Academy of the Holy Names for only 3 years, I have been through collective and personal changes attending an all-girl school. One thing that has not been consistent is the uniform policy. Our uniform, as of now, is a navy blue skirt, baby blue dry-fit top with our emblem, and white socks paired with brown penny-loafers. While this uniform is considered traditional, many girls take advantage of the all-female factor causing administration to amend the uniform every year since I have attended. Freshman: Universal Academy of Florida has been like a home for me for nearly 10 years. Alum: As an alumni, Tampa Catholic will always hold a special place in my heart. TC is known to have great academics, which I can testify too. Parent: Our first experience with Calvary Christian High School was when our oldest daughter decided to transfer from a local catholic school. At the end of her shadow day, we were in the office meeting with the administration and we were told two things that really stuck with us to this day. One, our first and primary goal is to nourish and enhance your daughter's relationship with Jesus Christ. Secondly, we are a team at Calvary and you as parents are part of that team. We can teach, guide, and nurture them, but we need your help at home reinforcing what we are doing here. Both of those things resinated with us. We have two students at Calvary and can certainly say that Calvary has delivered on their commitments. Both girls are truly closer to Jesus Christ and are thriving with academics and friends. Other: I am a grandparent of two graduates of Cambridge Christian School. I have been privileged to see the impact this school has had on my grandsons. As an educator myself, I had heard about the excellent academics at CCS. It did not disappoint in this area. Both my grandchildren graduated with honors and excelled in college. What I didn't anticipate was the incredible impact the Biblical foundation had on them. The are solid in their faith, men of values and character. I know their wonderful parents played a part, but the culture at this school is competitive for all the right things. These students want to excel, want to be involved and learn to be leaders. I realize no school is perfect, but I can honestly say I love this school. I hope those reading this visit and have an opportunity to attend. It is no longer a secret. Sophomore: I can tell you that this school is amazing. This is the fifth school year. This school is a PBL school meaning that it is project based learning school. They have an Aice Cambridge program which is similar to an IB program. I recommend applying for this program if you are planning to attend Patel high school. This school is a lottery school meaning you have to apply to get accepted. The facility is very helpful and really supportive. Patel high school provide many sports such as Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Swim, Cross country, and Cheer. We are planning to have more sports throughout the years such as tennis, track and many others. We have more than 50 clubs. This school provides many volunteer opportunities and clubs such as: Steering, Key club, and Junior Civitain which are clubs that students can join to earn volunteer hours. Parent: Cristo Rey wasn't even on our radar as a school selection. Since we attended Catholic school I just assumed Tampa Catholic would be the natural progression; we sat at the Cristo Rey presentation during a HS presentation night just to be polite since we grabbed their freebies :) My kids LOVED the idea of going to work every week! We visited the campus & heard student testimony & were sold. I love the community/family feel, the college prep is aggressive but provides so much more opportunity for exposure to colleges/college life than any other school would! The teachers are steady and committed, they teach multiple grade levels so get to watch your student grow each step of the way & are deeply invested in their success. Senior: Some area's I would like to improved at Tampa Bay Technical High School are the curriculum's, work, life readiness, and the restroom cleanliness. Starting off with the curriculum and tying into the work and life readiness, TBT could improve the curriculum to increase education about taxes, how to complete taxes, buying a house, and other life challenges like financing. The other area TBT could improve in is the cleanliness of the restrooms. I think a solution to the problem would be bringing up the the actions some student take in the restrooms, like immediately taking the toilet paper out of the dispenser, putting in the water, breaking into the soap dispensers, taking the soap out, and using excess paper towels. Senior: Bayshore Christian School offers an enriching high school experience. I came from a school where I felt very out of place and where I struggled with bullying. At Bayshore, I discovered a sense of community that pervaded the school. I was able to instantly make friends and the teachers are devoted to making each student feel recognized while preparing them for success. There is a strong faith in every student and faculty member, and regular worship provides opportunities for everyone to grow closer together. However, I have noticed that the school, due to its small size, sometimes struggles with teachers transferring to larger schools, which causes teachers to take on multiple subjects. However, Bayshore accounts for this adequately by integrating FLVS courses into the curriculum. One change I would like to see at Bayshore is for a greater focus to be placed on encouraging students to pursue more challenging classes, instead of permitting students to simply "cruise" through courses.... Senior: At first, I didn't really like bell creek. Bell Creek was one of the outside schools that no one wants to go, to since only nerdy people go to that school. But after being stuck there for four years, Bell Creek isn't that bad. For the first two years, I hated Bell Creek. Mostly because I hated wearing uniforms and so I got dress coded a few times, and because of that I didn't like the staff. But the last two years, I actually tried to get to know the staff and the teachers, and they're amazing people, they're just doing their job. For me, the only thing that sucked was the uniforms, but that meant I didn't have to spend a lot of money to wear new outfits at school, so I saved plenty of money. Another great thing, there were no fights, at all compared to other public schools. We were very safe inside and didn't have to worry about anything, plus, we have an amazing cop keeping us safe.
