Parent: We were considering a few other Atlanta area private schools few years ago and upon research and talking to experienced parents/faculty, we had chosen Westminster over others at the time. This is our 6th year at Westminster and we have been very pleased with our decision! The school thoroughly plans the curriculum for each grade level and continues to provide a challenging yet very supportive and caring environment for students. My child has really thrived at Westminster under its rigorous program, their teaching philosophy, unlimited resources, wide choices of extra-curricular activities and their athletic program! It's truly school that pushes a student to do their very best in not just academics and sports but also in the community to make a difference and be a well-rounded individual! No doubt the school is highly selective in student body and faculty; and they take the admission process seriously. Parent: Our children graduated in 2016 & 2018 & AIS keeps on giving! They have a great network of friends and connections all around the world. It's true that the IB curriculum is challenging but (& this is unusual) the entire school follow it, not just an elite few, so the level of IB expertise, resource and support is unparalleled. There are myths about the language programs, you really don't need to be a linguist! Ours had no 2nd language when they joined, one finished with a bilingual IB Diploma, another took standard level for DP. AIS prepared our kids well for universities in the US and abroad & the school gave us all a really interesting, supportive community. Parent: We currently have three children at Pace Academy and they are each having an excellent yet unique experience. The school takes academics seriously, and also throws massive athletic and other opportunities their way (clubs, stage shows, community projects, travel etc). They have all discovered new things they love directly though Pace. Character is a priority. They are learning to take responsibility and advocate for themselves. They are learning how it feels to be stretched. We have not yet experienced college counseling, but based on how well Pace prepares kids for whatever division is coming next, I feel pretty good about stepping into that soon. Somehow they manage to make sure the kids fully embrace and love the stage they are at in the moment, while also getting them totally prepared for what is coming next. Parent: This is our family’s fifth year at Lovett, and we couldn’t be happier with the education that our children are receiving at this special school. The faculty is outstanding and dedicated, including in the fine arts. The curriculum is rigorous, forward thinking, and innovative. Starting in the lower school, Lovett students are taught to be critical thinkers who are comfortable being challenged and to think outside the box. We are constantly impressed by the school’s leadership. Parent: I’ve been an AGS parent for about 5 years, with my oldest daughter starting in 6th grade (now entering 10th) and my youngest daughter coming in one year later for 6th grade (entering 9th). This is a wonderful community for both my girls and me. Academically, they have excelled, and I think that’s because most teachers work quite hard to make concepts relatable and non-formulaic, but also because they make themselves available to students to come for targeted assistance. The school and grade classes are quite small, which I believe aids in the school’s ability to meet each girl’s needs. There is also a warm sense of community at AGS! From parent gatherings to annual school events to cheering on the girls who play sports, there’s always a way to connect with other families and support the school and students. Parent: Our family moved to the Atlanta area in February of 2021. We have 8 children and had been homeschooling for a variety of reasons before the move. Finding a school with a vibrant Catholic culture as well as a challenging academic atmosphere was critical to us as we considered the next step for our family . We were also hoping for a school that would prioritize the classical approach to education. We researched, visited schools, and finally landed at Holy Spirit Prep. We have been thanking God ever since! We have four children at the school now. They entered the system as 9th, 6th, and 2nd graders as well as a pre-k 4! All of them were warmly welcomed and we soon considered the Holy Spirit community as family. Our children are truly flourishing in the environment! Parent: Overall, MIS has been a phenomenal school for our child. She has been allowed to grow and blossom in ways that no other school allowed for as they recognize her strengths and gifts and know how to foster and encourage them. The small size of classes allows her to develop trusting relationships with her teachers and allows the teachers to get to know each student so that they may individualize and differentiate the curriculum for each student - amazing! Sophomore: Grady is a great school academically! It has good diversity and a lot of the teachers work really hard to help the students succeed. There is a fairly large divide in socio-economic class as well as race. Most of the students are driven and motivated and care about their studies! Parent: My sister is a founding teacher at Academe of the Oaks. She is compassionate, smart, involved, has a chemistry PhD, was a college professor, and is one of the teachers at Academe. Other Academe teachers have masters, PhDs, are from other countries, love their area of study, and are compassionate. Junior: I love Atlanta Classical Academy! The teachers are amazing and the school really prepares you for college. However, If you decide to send your child to this school, make sure they TRULY understand how to study. The downfall of many new students at ACA is that when they enter the school (freshman year for ex.) they tend to expect that the grading system and the rigour of work will be the same as their previous school. I would say in order to do well at ACA you must study hard because the curriculum can be intense at times. One critique I would give the school is that the staff is not diverse. As a POC at ACA, having teachers who look like you and can relate to racial problems that may occur at school is very important.
