Parent: Manlius Pebble Hill is an outstanding independent school and was absolutely the right choice for both of my children. Outstanding teachers, a safe environment, and a focus on developing individuals who have the strength and maturity to progress. MPH offers small classes with teachers who focus on learning and going beyond. The additional clubs and sports offered ensure that students are well-rounded and have the opportunity to explore and grow beyond the classroom. One of the best aspects of MPH is college counseling. The process begins in sophomore year and continues to progress during Junior/Senior Years. The focus is on each student as an individual and ensuring the college application process is both thorough and complete. The matriculation rate for MPH students is second to none in the Syracuse area with a 100% matriculation rate and consistent offers from the most highly rated universities. Parent: Christian Brothers Academy has been an exceptional choice for both of my children. The older one just finished her freshman year at college and was extremely well prepared for the rigors of college life. My son is a senior and although very different from his sister, has also had an amazing CBA experience. They came from public school and both entered in 7th grade which I highly recommend. The Jr. High team does a remarkable job of creating a sense of community and family from the start. There is a tremendous amount of school spirit and pride. My children have been involved in sports, the musical, clubs, and every social activity. While they most loved the traditions, like Founder's Day and Homecoming, it seems like there is always something fun going on and they've made great friends from all over the Syracuse area. Senior: Fayettevile-Manlius has been a great high school to attend! Academics are very rigorous with lots of AP and dual enrollment classes and provide a good foundation for college. The teachers are generally helpful and want you to succeed. There are an abundance of clubs and activities, you will find something that you’re passionate about. It is also a good school for athletes as we have several nationally-ranked athletic programs. The school does have problems with culture and diversity which can damper the experience for some people. Senior: Jamesville-Dewitt High School is an excellent institution in Syracuse. Every teacher is dedicated to their subjects and do whatever they can to help their students excel. JDHS has not only amazing athletic programs, but also fantastic arts and music programs. There is also an abundance of clubs one can get involved in depending on their interests. School spirit is well and alive in the high school and our sports teams are always celebrated. Although our athletics are a draw, academics are the most important aspect of a school and our academics are incredible. Senior: I while going to the Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central I felt welcomed my ideas and values are respected by students and teachers. Students can disagree with one another and discuss why isn't they don't agree. The school prepares many of it's students for college and careers through college and career fairs as well as career coaching meetings. The only thing I would like to see change is the selection process in which they admit new students, because this years students have done nothing but fight and not focus on their academics.... Junior: Good music and arts program, great English. Inconsistent quality in social studies department. Fifth through sixth grade transition can be awkward, although those ages are automatically awkward. Facilities are great for school size. Strange rules abound however-the lunch room comes to mind. Senior: Overall, the teachers at West Genesee High School are supportive and kind to their students. They work to make lessons engaging and prepare students for tests. On the other hand, the building itself is “boring”; the walls are plain and doesn’t make the school look inviting. It would be nice if the school was filled with more posters and color. Also, the temperature of the building needs to be better managed.
