Freshman: Pembroke hill is, for the most part, a very academic school that puts students on a path for success. The teachers are very kind and open and always give chances for help and success, and the athletics leaves nothing to be a desired with a host of different sports. I’ve always felt very accepted at the school, I’m friends with lots of my peers and get along well with my teachers. Despite all that though, the school still leaves some things to be desired. The school lacks diversity to an extent, while there are a variety of different students and people, I sometimes look into the hallway, and I can’t see others like me. The school has a very large white population, which isn’t awful, but sometimes leaves people of other ethnicities feeling excluded. I’ve had an overall positive experience at Pembroke, and it gives me all lot of opportunities for success, but it also has it’s short-comings and flaws, though I can see active change within my own school.... Alum: The best parts about BVN is the community. There are so many opportunities to meet new people and establish a network of friendships. Additionally, there are many academic opportunities where students are able to showcase their knowledge and skills. While students may be able to showcase these academic achievements, they unfortunately are not appreciated enough compared to the athletics. In these athletics, majority of them are toxic environments designed to discourage beginners who would like to try something new and bring up star athletes. The coaches of the athletics favor these talented athletes and do very little to make the experience enjoyable for new athletes, creating toxic interactions between student athletes. Alum: Sion is such an amazing school! I was able to take several ACCP and AP classes and entered college with many credits that allowed me to graduate in 4 years with a double major and minor. I grew in my faith, found my voice and confidence! I went to college on a significant scholarship for leadership. Alum: As a recent graduate from Blue Valley West High School, there were some definite pro's and con's. As a student I ran Cross Country, Track, and Diving, I would say overall my experience at Blue Valley West High School was positive. Great neighborhood nearby, teachers are nice and love to help their students. Alum: AMDG! This is a great catholic high school, one of the best you can attend in the entire state. The sports program is fantastic. It may be even better than some colleges. The academics are of great quality - everyone in Rockhurst is both smart and athletic. The entire organization is closely connected to the local community and every Rockhurst students feel like brothers to each other. The only thing disappointing is diversity. This school is 90% white with few minorities, so there's not much to represent different cultures and races. Regardless, you'll never regret being part of the Rockhurst organization. Middle school student: Hello y'all its me, LadyPizza and today we're gonna take one trip to memory lane to school was why this school amazing!😌 One day, when my curtains were opened, my mama called me downstairs. It was officially my first day of school. Red Jumper, white converse shoes and a newly bought sweater was on my strawberry scented body. I had my Elsa princess lunchbox and my purple backpack with my name on it. This kindergartener was ready to go so then I got in my daddy's big van and while I was looking at the window, there I saw it my first school ever. I was holding my daddy's hand and he opened the door, a new world was created. It smelled good like green latte, everybody was new and looked nice. My class was down the hallway with a pink or brown door? All of this is from memory so I'm trying my best. I entered my class and everybody looked nice and sweet. Senior: I moved to this school right my freshman year. It's a fairly large school with a population of 1.6k people, which means it can be pretty crowded. But with more people means more ideas, diversity, and activities. There are a large amount of clubs students can join, various amount of sports, and classes that are typically unavailable in other schools like graphic design, fashion and apperal, 21st century journalism, and game design and more. The music department have won many awards and are filled with amazing directors. I was the member of the matching band, and unlike most schools, students actually like watching the band! Like any school, there have been internal conflict, however new staff have been good at finding progressive solutions, which will hopefully get even better as time goes on. Middle School Student: all 3 of my years at delta woods was okay 6th was very good all the teachers were welcoming, but 7th grade is when the kids started bullying me and none of the teachers did anything about it and 8th grade was a mixture these girls would bully me in 5th hour and every time they did it i told every time and they never gave them any displice and i had to live with is THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE i found hair in mu lunch one time!
