Parent: As a 3rd culture kid myself and as part of a bi-racial family, some of the most important factors in choosing the International School of Indiana was so that our family would not just be accepted, but that my children would be seen, understood and be surrounded by other like-minded families and staff that would understand the unique, nuanced nature of what it means to be culturally diverse, especially in the Midwest US. The rich foundation that is the International Baccalaureate curriculum encourages critical thinking, thoughtful communication and an inherent understanding that we can always find common ground, through open-minded discourse and exchange. It is those important, critical life skills, coupled with the gift of a second language, French in our case, which means they are also acquiring the ability to converse in a different language, understand different cultures and keep their young minds functioning exceptionally. Senior: My experience at Park Tudor School has been filled with new personal connections, intellectual growth, and an emphasis on trying new things. The school requires 2 seasons of a sport, a fine arts class, and various other humanities and STEM requirements. These push me to approach education in an interdisciplinary manner, learning about history's application to technology and math's influence on creative writing. The teachers at PT support their students in any way needed. I have used many teacher office hours, asked for countless recommendations, and gotten exposed to new opportunities through them. The highlight of this school is the small knit community. My graduating class has 118 students all of whom know each other and every teacher very well. When walking down the halls I am familiar with all of the students and teachers providing a sense of community. Junior: The school has been nothing but extraordinary. It is one which gives a vast span academic rigor and the 11:1 student-faculty ratio gives an amazing opportunity for one-on-one student teacher time. The teachers and staffing do everything with student success in mind. Not only this, but there are many times throughout the day built in for students to meet with teachers in subject offices, complete homework or socialize. The school does an amazing job of providing a great balance between work and fun. With students constantly attending sporting events, club meetings and other school led activities, the different grade levels are able to interact. Also, it is not super religious. Students can participate in relies events at their choice. The school offers amazing scholarship opportunities and highly ranked athletic teams (2021-22 W. Volleyball, M. Soccer, M. Senior: Overall my experience at Carmel High School has been pretty good! My first year it was a bit of a struggle because of us being on a hybrid schedule due to COVID-19, so it made it harder to get to know people and make friends. Although, since then I have had a good time at CHS. I believe that they prepare you the best they can with the school having over 5000 students. I have learned that there is a lot of help and resources available for that help, but you have to be the one to go out and look for it. Something that I wish they would do differently is promote clubs better. This is because the school has an immense amount of clubs, however, students are not regularly exposed to them or even know that they exist. I think that something the school could do to improve this is have a day after school where they have a clubs fair. Sophomore: My overall experience at Creekside was really good, minus a few details. First of all, there were some teachers that didn't seem to put in as much effort as others. While most teachers were quite amazing there were definitely a hand full that were not. Senior: Zionsville High School is a large, appealing public high school. Recently it's undergone changes to better accommodate the lives of students such as a new cafeteria and entrance. We have several options to pick for lunch every day, but usually it's the same few options every day. I've had mostly positive experiences with the staff. I believe most the staff tries to create a safe inclusive learning environment for all students. I also have not had a class where I felt I was not being taught anything useful or being forced to do too much at once. The social atmosphere here is very good. I haven't seen many problems with bullying, and there are little to no fights here. I think this school prioritizes sports over other extra curriculars. I would be interested in events for clubs other than sports. This school is definitely not very diverse. Senior: In general, Herron High School is a wonderful place to get an education. The teachers all genuinely care about the students, and treat them as fellow people. Students are polite and spirited, and unique! There's so much diversity in these halls. The main issues are with communication- emails can be confusing and either too frequent or not frequent enough, scheduling is strange, and overall Herron is a very nontraditional school, which can work for some but definitely won't work for all....
