Junior: I'm so glad that I made the choice to come to University High School! On first day of Freshman orientation, I was immediately welcomed with kind and supportive peers. The staff are incredibly nice and fun to be around! There are lots of clubs, organizations, and school activities at UHS that are bound to make any student love the school! The school itself is also not a very big campus, so almost everyone knows each other. However, we also have access to Fresno State campus! Being on a college campus really allows students to have their own freedom and experience what it's like to be a college student. At UHS, students take college classes through Fresno State along with AP classes for Junior and Senior year. While being a college prep school, UHS also puts emphasis on music education as well! The academics at University High are definitely not for everyone, as they are pretty rigorous compared to other schools. However, the fun that happens at University High is definitely worth it!... Alum: While Design Science Middle College High School is undoubtedly intensive and requires work, this school ensures that students get a valuable education and dedicates time to getting students into college. The workload is manageable and the staff at this school genuinely cares for the students. They go out of their way to prep students for college regarding work, environment, registering for classes, and paying for their education. The best part of it all is that you can get an associate's degree at the end of it! Not many high school students can say they got a diploma and a degree on the same day. Junior: During my time at Clovis North High School, it has been very satisfying to fulfill my academic goals through the abundance of advanced courses such as honors and AP classes. Completing these courses not only opens up more opportunities for students, but also ensures that students are prepared for future college classes that have a more rigorous curriculum. Many students at Clovis North including myself have utilized these advanced courses to boost our academic resume. I know that I am very privileged to be able to have access to college-level courses without attending an actual college class. Although Clovis North's has upstanding academic values, there are some areas for improvement especially in the department of dress code. The enforcement of dress code at Clovis North, at many times, has been directed primarily towards female students and directed less to male students. Junior: Buchanan High School has unique opportunities to explore topics of interest- It offers ROP classes and the CART program, which are meant to provide education catered to jobs. The AP and Honors programs offer opportunities for academic excellence, early college credit, and a weighted GPA. Joining a few clubs out of the many that were offered allowed me to make connections with others and participate in events I wouldn't have known about otherwise. The campus size is impressive, but I've noticed some issues with maintenance and cleanliness in certain areas, which could be improved upon. For example, many of the restrooms are often closed, and searching for one in working order takes away from class time or break. Buchanan promotes diversity and inclusion, which is evident from the many posters made by the school's peer counseling and leadership teams. Parent: My mother who is 81 years old, my aunt and 3 uncles, 16 first cousins, 4 siblings, my spouse and I are all San Joaquin Memorial High school graduates and LOVE the place! We cannot say enough good things about this amazing college-preparatory school and we all continue to actively support it as alumni. Our eldest son is now a sophomore at the University of California at Berkeley and he loved SJM as well and had an excellent experience there. Sophomore: I love Clovis West. The campus is beautiful, the teachers are constantly achieving the goal of giving their students and education, the students are so friendly, and the co-curricular’s are so involving. Although I am only an incoming junior, I dread the day that I turn my tassel and leave Clovis West behind. As a freshman, I can fully say that I was not as involved as I now wish I was. Yes, I would go to some football games, go to a few drama performances, and attend some club meeting; but that is nothing as to what I experienced sophmore year. My sophmore year I changed my mindset about high school. I wanted to do everything I could to make my high school years better, and I did just that! I joined the leadership team, I went to as many sporting events as I could, I went to many school performances, and I loved every minute of it. Parent: My son went to this school from 2014-2020 and we both had great experiences. The teachers were great and the curriculum challenged him. He played for the chess team and really enjoyed the interactions and growth in learning the sport. He was diagnosed with ADHD and had special services and all the resources had obtainable standards. Sophomore: I was looking forward to high school (Buchanan) because the middle school seemed a little bit like a funnel, but you can't fault the school that much because I had just come from a Middle school in MA where my class was 99 kids, and here at Alta, my class was 742 kids. That's a lot of kids at the school, and so it is easy to feel like a number. However, the administration and teachers do their best to remember everyone's names and activities to prevent this, and are largely successful! Parent: This school has amazing teachers... My son has done excelled at bud rank and I thank their staff for that. The culture is great and the kids have their head in their shoulders. They do lots of fun activities and had on stuff with animals. I'm so happy my son goes here, I have no complaints. Niche User: I was at this Elementary School for K-6 grades and the best part about it was the teachers. The teachers were always so nice and they really helped me with my academics. Alum: I loved Riverview! It was a great Elementary School. The teachers and staff were . The food was ok, and activities & sports intense but great. I feel I was not prepared for intermediate school however with my reading and writing skills. I was not taught cursive or good computer typing skills. In 3rd & 6th grade I had to defend myself against boys touching me inappropriately and got in trouble for it. Alum: The change from elementary school to middle school is hard for a many students, but the transition to Clark was seamless. The instructors were all helpful, friendly, and easy to understand.
