Junior: My experience at the Academy of the Holy Cross is, that I came as a transfer into my junior year. The Academy was very welcoming, and though it was my first year I felt that after a few months I had already known everybody. The teachers are kind and outgoing, especially the social studies department! Now, the sports are also quite good, everyone on the teams are not only experienced, but determined to be the best. Also, the volleyball team is one of the best I’ve ever seen, and the coaches are really one of a kind! Now, the music and arts, there are many options and opportunities, and honor societies that are related to not only other departments, but the arts departments as well, that are welcome for everyone to join! Also, I would recommend taking a dance class, the dance teacher is one of the best teachers there, regardless if you don’t take one of her classes, like I don’t. Senior: I've enjoyed being a student in the Prince George County, Virginia district. I have felt challenged in the International Baccalaureate, the Advanced Placement, and the Dual Enrollment programs. I feel that they have all adequately prepared me for college. The small town atmosphere is amazing and I like the way it feels when teachers know me by name. The only way that the school system can improve would be to offer more classes in personal finance and budgeting so that I will feel better prepared to live on my own after high school and college.... Middle School Student: It is the best school I have ever been to and has opened the gates for me to really be able to learn. I especially like language arts and my teachers truly have a broad understanding of the world and inspire us. I have read books including Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, The Power of One, Frankenstein, Henry IV, Henry V, Oedipus The King, and many more. I came in 7th grade and I thought I would have a hard time, but that was not the case. The school is so diverse and I have gotten to learn about a bunch of different cultures and it has given me a better understanding. I went to public school before and until I got to this school I did not really know whiten outstanding education was. I feel ready to share my ideas with the world.... Read 9 reviews
