Northwest Area High School
- Northwest Area School District, PA
High School Senior: I, personally, have not experienced anything extremely negative here. I have, however, really enjoyed my time. Some kids can be stuck up and very sports-centered, but they grow our of it the older they get. There are some religious, right-wing nutjobs, though. Many keep their religious preferences and beliefs to themselves, though, and that's great. It's really the parents that you have to watch out for on that front. The school is also overwhelmingly Caucasian. Racism is not an issue as far as I know, though.
This school is great of you like a small place where everyone knows each other. The sense of community is nice and is definitely not a thing you'd get at a bigger school.
Sports are definitely more emphasized and doted on than the arts. However, the arts (music especially) remains a strong program with many talented students and offers opportunities to perform in school choirs and bands as well as firled trips.
I think I would choose to come to this school again if I had to, just so I could experience the small school feel.
