Senior: Westwood is an institution that sets students up for success in higher education. The majority of teachers are extremely passionate, knowledgeable, and have the teaching of advanced courses down to a tee. But, the environment of Westwood can be overwhelming. Students' competitive attitudes can be genuinely disheartening and distracting- it's not easy on your mental health to go here. It is overcrowded and constantly undergoing construction that makes just entering a hassle. The administration is prone to communicating poorly about rule changes, then lecturing the student population. Senior: The learning environment was very rigorous but it helped prepare me for college. They teach you advanced learning techniques and have an open and welcoming environment with equality for everyone through the use of school uniforms. It is a safer environment than any of the public schools I went to before going here. I've been going here for 10 years and have made a lot of friends. They are also very good and supportive of students with learning disabilities like ADHD and Dyslexia and Disgraphia, as well as students with depression and anxiety. Junior: Although Cedar Park lacks in diversity and struggles to keep teachers at the school, especially during the teaching crisis that we are currently experiencing, the classes help students learn the necessary material along with valuable life lessons, which is not something that every school in Austin area is doing right now. I personally believe that Cedar Park is one of the best high schools in area because there are so many opportunities for students to get involved - no matter who you are, there is a place for you to feel that you belong. Additionally, unlike many other larger schools around here, Cedar Park is far from overcrowded, making it easier to navigate the school and become involved in the many activities offered. Junior: I love the school personally. It has really gotten me to think about where the future may lead, what to do with my life and what opportunities would really support me. The teachers are just as supportive as the APs and its a really safe environment. I loved it when Professional Communications/MAPs was a required course because the resources needed to succeed were mainly in that class and its a bit annoying for us Juniors and Seniors to have to reshow them how to access these things if they weren't paying attention at a seminar. Senior: Round Rock High School was definitely not a bad school. Compared to many other schools I am very fortunate to have been able to attend there. While some teachers often did not care about their jobs or seemed to care about their students, many did. Those who did really made a difference. Walking into a class knowing your teacher cares about your future and education is a really refreshing feeling. The students at Round Rock High School were overall good people. I never saw or heard of any real "bullys", nothing more than people being average high school teenagers. Alum: I was a junior when I transferred to Savio and believe that it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. The teachers and students welcomed me in with open arms and helped me to adjust coming from public school in any way i needed. One of the reasons as to why i believe that it was a great idea to change schools is because they say that Savio is a great college preparatory school, which is 100% true. I find college would have been so much more difficult had i not gone there prior to Texas Tech. Another great aspect that I activly reflect on was my career in sports at Savio. I didn't get to play much at the public school i went to but at Savio i was playing both sides of the ball in football and was on the baseball team, which i never would have been able to at my public school. Parent: We are still new, but Rutledge is a great school. The teachers and staff are very friendly and responsive and seem to genuinely care about the students. While the level of rigor is not as high as I would like, there are opportunities for challenge for the students, including a wonderful GT program that is run by three fabulous teachers who really go out of their way to make sure the kids in the program have a great experience and learn some important skills--beyond just academics--as well. I would like to see more innovation happening in the classrooms and some revamped learning spaces, but all in all this is a great place to be. Freshman: Amazing school, the cheer squad was great last year I was in 8th grade, unfortunately, there I a slight clique problem but nothing big. I am A kid who is annoying and I have never been to a school more accepting and kind. The principal is very nice, I wish everywhere I went , the world was like here. The teachers are outstanding! Mrs Jeffreys was probably my favorite. She is very funny and all the teachers are understanding and they all care deeply about you. It was absurd to hear of kids doing drugs or smoking, sadly I moved out of the district, when I got to high school everything was different. The cheer program was also an amazing experience. Middle school is hard, and was something I hated until I went here. Another amazing thing was the cafeteria, they had a snack room, It has cookies, yogurt, pudding, ice cream, dipping dots, slushees, pretzel machine, etc. It was the best school I had ever been in, if you want a good school go here. Niche User: My son has had an amazing experience at Cox. The teachers are warm, caring and excellent at what they do. The school is not only strong academically but they add extra activities that my have made learning fun. Kinder had the teddy bear picnic, 1st grade there was a chili cook-off, 2nd grade made pumpkin pies and a neat science day, 3rd grade had a mother/child tea, etc. My son has enjoyed all of these activities and they have given him a well rounded school experience. Middle School Student: I would really say, life at Walsh was wonderful. The athletic program is rigorous and extremely rewarding for students looking to pursue sports. A huge number of excellent clubs that meet regularly. Academic curriculum is practical and teaches students exactly what they need to know in order to be prepared for future challenges. Lots of useful opportunities for students looking to pursue AP classes in high school, and for students who wish to accelerate. Amazing library, and really supportive teachers. Students maintain a friendly and welcoming environment throughout the school. Every day students and parents are greeted by the teachers and principal as they enter the school. Teachers and the principal are very accessible and willing to discuss any concerns you may have. Middle School Student: Overall, Ridgeview is a great school. Very diverse when it comes to students, but lacking in diversity with teachers. The environment is mostly positive, with the exception of very few students and teachers. They really push the students to be independent, which is something I've always liked about this school. They teach their students how to do things on their own and how to be responsible. They only part I would suggest a little touching up on is having more hands-on lessons. Being apart of the student body, I have noticed that many students focus and work better when they are actually DOING something, rather than just writing on paper or typing on a laptop. Parent: England Elementary is truly one of the best in the Austin metro area. It has outstanding teachers who care about their students, administrators who make decisions in the best interests of the children, and a very diverse student body whose parents are passionate about education.
