Works Here: I've been personally and professionally satisfied as an employee at Rye Country Day School. I found the community to be welcoming and eager for a new chapter, under strong leadership. I've felt supported in my work and have had many opportunities to grow new skillsets, which is important to me in a workplace. Impressive is the first word that comes to mind when I see how successful our students are and in unique ways. Of course, RCDS students' achievements include superior academics and athletic championships. But I've been most struck witnessing the level of care, genuine passion, and commitment to causes that are important to the students, specifically with the Community Engagement Fellows, the students who were selected to attend the Student Diversity Leadership Conference, and student leaders involved in the Sustainability program. Parent: FASNY is a blessing! We have been in the high school for 2 years now, and we couldn’t ask for anything better. Their International Baccalaureate program is superior to none. The faculty and administration are engaging with every student and parent. Their PTA has many fun events to build community and school spirit throughout the year. Your children could not have a better steppingstone and guidance for acceptance into any college in the world. Alum: I began attending Hackley in the sixth grade and remained there through the end of my high school career. With such great academic resources at your disposal, it's hard to not garner great college readiness. That being said, near-college level stress on children definitely creates a stress-inducing atmosphere. While this may be perceived as preparing kids for the real world, providing few mental health resources and being in the predominantly white, affluent bubble of Hackley does anything but that. Very grateful for the great opportunities the school afforded me both in and out of the classroom, particularly through travel, which was covered by my hefty financial aid. Senior: I am a student at EFA and I'm a senior now. EFA has a very nice campus environment and offers different classes and clubs, which gives international students a good learning experience. Parent: Having had two students attend high school at Leffell, I can honestly say it is a very special place with Jewish values at the core of the school experience. No school is perfect, but most of the teachers care deeply about the individual students and their learning, and the administration is generally accessible and open to feedback. Student life is robust for a school of this size with many sports, clubs, activities, and community service opportunities. The arts could be stronger, but these programs seem to be growing over time. STEM is a big focus with most students opting in to the 4 year Engineering & Entrepreneurship program. The school has a very strong sense of community among students and families. The spring of senior year is a highlight with 2 months spent in Israel and Poland followed by internships or independent projects until graduation. Junior: From my very first experience here, which was at a shadow day, I saw that girls at the Ursuline School are very friendly, classy, and positive people. Senior: My experience at Archbishop Stepinac High school has been one for the books! Ever since I walked the halls for my first time as a Spend The Day shadowing under a sophomore, I fell in love. I immediately felt a connection as my classmates and teachers were so welcoming and helpful from the start. And things have only gone uphill. Each new year at Stepinac truly prepared me for the years to come. With so many communities of sports, clubs, and academics, there’s a place and a group for everyone. Now that I’m a senior getting ready for college, saying that I am thankful for all of those who helped me prepare is an understatement. The amazing group of guidance counselors, teachers, and administrators who have aided and guided me through the college process truly care about my and all of my fellow classmates outcomes and are great people. Alum: I loved maria regina. In general, it is a great school.Most of the teachers are helpful, we have fun activities such as food trucks, spirit week for holidays, etc. We also do a lot of retreats which are great bonding experiences for girls to get to know each other on a deeper level. I do have to say that the clubs are not that great at all. Although MRHS does have atleast 15+ clubs I would say, there are only a small number of them that actually do fun activities and have meetings regularly. Peer ministry and PAWS club are great in my personal opinion. Peer ministry helps students get closer to their peers, help other students, and organize many events during the schoolyear. PAWS is a great club because every year they visit a shelter and donate a bunch of resources to them, which I think is truly outstanding. The school lunch is pretty good, just a little bit expensive. Parent: Both of our children went to Chapel from Kindergarten through 8th grade - my youngest graduates this year. They have had amazing teachers throughout who understood each individual's needs (my kids are VERY different) and worked with them accordingly. The classes have been very intimate, and my kids have made lifelong friends there. The community is warm, diverse and supportive, our parent friends are the BEST, and we always look forward to the annual gala, the middle school ski trip, weekly chapel services and community service initiatives (like soup kitchen runs and adopt-a-family at Christmas). The Middle School trips to Boston, DC and Philly are great (and hoping COVID doesn't cancel this year's trip again for my oldest.) The only downside is with a school this small is that sports options are fairly limited. My son does play CYO/Chapel Chargers basketball with his buddies and has a great time. Parent: We have been thrilled with our experience at WTA ever since we joined over three years ago. The warm, loving environment is unparalleled, and the extent to which the education is individualized is remarkable. Any parent will tell you that no two children learn in the same way - WTA has built this right into their model! Teachers truly know their students and partner with parents so they know the areas where their children are excelling, and areas where they are getting more support. The dedication of the staff and administration is like nothing we've ever seen, especially through this pandemic. Full-day remote learning was provided less than 24hrs after the school closed abruptly in March, and the staff continues to go above and beyond to keep school open now.
