Junior: My experience at the Math and Science Academy has been a journey that has allowed me to learn a lot. The best part of my experience is the teachers, students, and advisors. The teachers take the time to make sure that the students have a good understanding of the material and are always available for help. The community is very diverse and allowed me to meet people who have the same background as me. The clubs offered here allowed me to build a better relationship with my community and gain soft skills that I can use in the future. The worst part of my experience was the amount of coursework we got because I came here during freshman year so I wasn't used to the large amount of coursework. Something I would like to see change is the size of the classrooms because there isn't enough room for all the students. I would also want the clubs and sports to be better supported because some of them don't have any buses, so many of us have to rely on parents or others to participate.... Read 73 reviews

Parent: We have absolutely loved SCPA since day 1. Our children are now in the 7th and 4th grades. Teachers are awesome. K-12 together in one building makes for wonderful interactions between upper and lower school students and a fun and inclusive school environment. The school does not shy away from challenging it's students which is the number one reason that we chose this school for our children. They instill the importance of accountability at a very young age while also focusing on strong character traits & leadership. And try not to mistake the fact that they get homework in elementary school for it being an uncaring environment. Our children have always felt well loved by their teachers - even my rambunctious, sometimes in trouble, hard to sit still 4th grade boy! He needs boundaries & guidance and has been given that by each of his teachers in a caring & effective way. We have never felt intimidated by the staff or administration. Senior: A good school with good teachers (mostly). Very conservative with traditional views on the bible. Arent extremely accepting of new world ideas. NLA has a very good support system and a tight-knit community. They are there to help you succeed. Dont attend this school for sports, it's a more art-centered school. Senior: As a freshman, it would be uncommon to be completely overwhelmed with each experience, especially on the first day. While many students had transferred from the neighboring middle school and into the high school, it seemed like each person already knew everybody, which made me feel out of place. Despite the struggles I've had with my social encounters initially, the teachers and staff made it easy for me to walk through as they provided unconditional support whenever I seemed like I needed it, or when I simply asked. Because of this encouragement, I was able to find the courage to begin branching out and making new friends out of my own accord, rather than sitting and waiting for people to reach out to me instead. Now that I am a senior, I can confidently look back at those past experiences and say that my teachers were a major part in helping build the foundation for the me that I am today.... Senior: Great arts programs available to students including choir, theatre, band, orchestra, and additional extracurriculars for students interested in the arts. There are also a lot of great college and career exploration activities for students such as Pathways day where students can learn about the workforce, army, or colleges by doing in person or virtual tours. My recommendation for how the school could improve would be making it easier for students to find mental health resources throughout the year. There are some posters in the hallways with QR codes that lead students to mental health services, but I feel the school could continue to do more. Senior: Woodbury High School offers a variety of different extracurricular activities that I’m interested in. Through joining them, I have met like-minded peers throughout my school. These people continue to push me both emotionally and intellectually with every interaction. Overall, I find that the people, or culture, of Woodbury is really encompassing, and it offers a place for anyone. One of my qualms about WHS is their lack of funding for STEM programs. A few of their STEM activities in which I am involved in are thrust aside in favor of sports, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the lack of focus on STEM dampens the school’s STEM potential greatly. Although Woodbury is actively trying to fix this by introducing more technical and computer focused classes, the school still remains weak in comparison to its nearby counterparts. Sophomore: The best parts of my experience at East Ridge High School are primarily related to its academics. East Ridge High School is a very academically focused school that caters to students with high ambitions and a love of learning and students who may be struggling academically because there is an abundance of resources to guide them back on track. The worst parts of my experience are primarily related to its lack of competition-based clubs. For example, there is no club dedicated to USACO which is a programming and computing competition, and USABO a biology competition. This is a minor complaint but one that I would love to see resolved. Middle School Student: I love Mahtomedi Middle School it’s a very nice and welcoming environment. Most of the teachers are AMAZING. All of the teachers are very nice but some teach better then others. The academics are very challenging especially honors and accelerated programs but some friends of mine in high school say that the accelerated programs are very helpful especially if you want to take AP in high school. The area where the school is located is a very small safe town which I believe is a very good environment for a school.Overall Mahtomedi is a very good school with amazing teachers and students....
