My fellow peers, teachers, and staff at Marvin have been accepting of all people that attend Marvin Ridge High school. I would know because I am Greek Orthodox at a school with majority of the students being Catholic or atheist and I feel at home. Senior: The four years I've spent at Weddington High School have been exciting, rewarding, inspiring, and fulfilling. The school environment is inviting and safe, which has become one of my greatest priorities over the past few years. I have found teachers that actively motivate me to improve and friends that allow me to be the best version of myself. Like many big schools, however, it is easy to feel small or unseen, especially in social contexts. I feel that Weddington could improve by integrating more team-building and social activities/events into the extracurricular schedule to build a closer bond between all types of students. Junior: I’ve been attending CATA for three years now and I’ve never been happier at a school before! The teachers are all amazing; they’re all so supportive, engaging, and teach incredibly well. On top of that, the environment itself is very comfortable. It’s a very diverse school where everyone can express themselves freely without judgment and I really appreciate the open atmosphere at CATA. Though we may not have the best athletics (which I personally don’t have much interest in as it is), our school is very competitive in terms of academics. I feel like I’m actually somewhat challenged here which I’m personally very grateful for. Senior: I really like this school, it has a great environment, I have met so many amazing people and friends, and you have so much potential here academically there are so many options to suite just about anybody! Great teachers and staff, you can tell they really want you to achieve here. One thing I would maybe work on is to help people who use substance in the school stop at least vaping, etc. on school grounds. It’s not too bad in all honesty compared to the other schools in our district we actually do pretty well with it. And I know you can’t control it 100% but it’s a nice thought. High School Senior: The Story of My Life at this school would be long, but I can truly say that this is the best public school in all of Union County. There are certain elements that may not be positive, but the positive outcomes outweigh the negatives. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for an academically-focused school without paying college-level tuition prices for private school. Works Here: My experience at UPA has been nothing but positive. All of the admin staff is very supportive and will help you with anything that you need. They work hard to make UPA the best they can. They give teachers feedback on their instruction, give resources for rigor, followed safety protocols during covid, and will communicate to parents and staff. The teachers here strive for growth for their students and communicate weekly with families, giving updates on their child's progress and are super friendly. Sophomore: UCEC is a great school. I make very good grades and that is because the teachers are absolutely fantastic! There is a lot of work and I get stressed out, but it is worth it because I will graduate with my Associates degree. I do not get to have the same high school experience as most teenagers do. Even though that is true, the school is a community filled with great people! The teachers are so encouraging and have been some of the best teachers I have ever had. Taking college courses as a high school student is very challenging because you are learning to balance your high school classes as well as colleges classes. I have learned many techniques to adapt to the differences that are faced as a high school student taking college courses. Overall, this school has been an amazing way to learn how to grow as a student and a person. I’m glad that I have the privilege of going to this school and am I excited for what is to come....
