Parent: Rutgers Prep is a hidden gem. This fall my daughter entered the 6th grade from our local public school and we couldn't be happier with our choice. We have discovered an incredibly kind and diverse student body, a mix of teachers/administrators/staff that love the school which is evidenced by the low turnover, and a challenging academic curriculum. There are so many opportunities for students to learn, grow and develop not only from their teachers, but from their incredibly diverse classmates, across divisions (my daughter is currently in the Robotics Club which is taught by high schoolers) and in activities outside of the classroom. Parent: When our family relocated to New Jersey we looked at numerous schools for our younger daughter and selected Mount Saint Mary Academy for their strong curriculum, welcoming culture, college prep and dedicated administration and teachers. It was absolutely the right decision for our daughter and our family! During her three years at The Mount our daughter took advantage of many of the clubs and activities, the AP courses and student government. The Mount prepared our daughter extremely well for college and graduated with honors from NYU where she received a partial scholarship. Senior: ACADEMICS: People in the reviews are complaining too much about how hard the academics are... there's nothing wrong with our academics. Y'all just need to apply yourself! And we have plenty of options for every level of difficulty, from regular to Honors to AP. FACULTY/ADMINISTRATION: Generally excellent teachers who help you get through. Few bad apples here/there but that's inevitable. School board makes some bad decisions now and then though. CLUBS/ACTIVITIES: Lots of options. Whether you're an artsy kid, a sporty kid, a band kid, or a STEM kid, there's something for you, and you'll enjoy it. I've heard school spirit's apparently lacking compared to other schools, but how would I know? DIVERSITY: We have people of all races, heritages, and LGBT categories here. We're pretty tolerant I guess. SAFETY: We're in, like, one of the safest towns in America. Besides, we have a pretty strict visitor policy, and even implemented an ID system starting this year. Senior: Of course, by being a woman of color there have been some racial incidences with the students, but the staff and faculty always strive to make the environment feel safe and protected. Most mornings there are police posted at several entrances of the school. There are also plenty of clubs and sports to participate in. The teachers are really friendly and make an effort to connect with the students. The school strives to separate itself from an average high school by holding school spirit events every month and encouraging our sports teams no matter the season. Alum: BRHS definitely prepares you academically for college, and has plenty of resources available to help you succeed. Many of the teachers here are super nice and want to make you will succeed. There are lots of clubs and activities to get involved in here, which was a plus! The music program here was absolutely amazing. The curriculum overall is plenty rigorous, which was a plus because I felt much more prepared to take on college classes than if I had an easier curriculum. The events, such as spirit week and pep rally, was my favorite week of the school year. Senior: My fours years at Watching Hills Regional High School has taught me many valuable life lessons that I will bring with me throughout college and the rest of my life. As I entered high school, there were multiple resources like friends and teachers to help me get to my new classes and give me a good first year experience. I played high school Football, and basketball, all of which I love very much. The coaches and players were amazing to be around and my experiences helped carry me to accomplish multiple goals. In the classroom I was able to collaborate with friends and receive help from teachers whenever I need it. The teachers are very respectful and will help you with any work that you are struggling on. The community is very involved, and each of the four districts that go into Watching Hills is very diverse, which allows me to expand my knowledge of different cultures, and understand the background of all my friends. Freshman: I am currently enrolled in Bernards High School. It is a great school ,and I would reccomend anyone who is looking for a challenging high school, should attend. It is a smaller school that gives it a feel of a private school, and the school has a numerous amounts of challenging courses, and classes. On top of that, I have found all of the teachers super friendly, helpful, and nice. They make sure to teach you hands on, and I love the work enviorment. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!... Senior: At Hillsborough High School, I received a well-rounded education and had many opportunities outside the classroom to learn and grow. The teachers guided me when I needed assistance and were caring and involved in the well-being of their students. Even during the pandemic, I felt like I was in the classroom because the teachers were well-prepared with virtual learning and were very available to students. I was still able to connect with the Hillsborough High School community and didn’t feel like I was struggling or alone. During non-pandemic times, I was involved in various clubs and activities, which made my overall high school years very enjoyable and added to my learning experience. They also taught me acceptance of others and about being an individual. Parent: This is our family’s first year at TEECS. Having transferred from a public school, we really feel the difference. TEECS provides a quality education with a higher academic standard and a more in-depth curriculum so the kids learn a lot more. The teachers are dedicated, offering free tutoring after school and Saturday mornings. Home visits by the teachers was also a nice touch that helped our kids adapt to the school. Moreover, in a K-5 public school, there usually aren’t many extracurricular activities, but at TEECS, K-5 students are offered a wide variety of clubs after school, ranging from chess, robotics/STEM classes to soccer, tennis, Bollywood Dance, Zumba, swimming, and lots more. Senior: I believe my experience at Somerset County Vocational Tech High School was not extraordinary but memorable. My sending district was Montgomery High and it was a big adjustment. I went from having homework, weekly tests and quizzes weekly, and penalties for coming to class late. However at Tech, I feel none of this happens. I knock Tech down a start because of this. I have not learned much coming from Montgomery. However, I rate Tech so high because I believe Tech has prepared me for real life after graduation. The teachers are real and they understand the many challenges their students face. I believe they care for their students achievements whereas in Montgomery, I was just a cow in a pasture, but that pasture was full of cows. Middle School Student: William Annin Middle School is a very challenging, competitive, and goal-driven environment. This town consists of very educated adults and professionals that (mostly) ensure that we engage in learning and participating in new lessons every day. Peers will be from mostly white/Asian descent, and will be at all different levels of math, as WAMS offers a two-year accelerated mathematic pathway, bringing the advanced curriculum to 8th Grade Geometry. Likewise, they offer instructional support when appraisal indicates placement. On the other hand, the ELA curriculum seems to be lacking, as it is still at an elementary level regarding many general/important topics, and has no “advanced” course plan. We have an exceptional Tech Ed program, an exceptional debate team, and exceptional select athletics and music groups. Alum: Just like the rest of the district, Cedar Hill only has the best teachers/staff. Academics are great and I felt safe in Cedar Hill because of its bullet proof windows. The building just installed a HVAC system which runs throughout the building. The food is better than other schools in the township, but the High School still has the best food from what I hear.
