Senior: Nativity BVM High School has been the greatest high school decision that I could have made. Honestly, before walking in on the first day of school, I was incredibly nervous because I had no idea what was in store in me. Within minutes, I had already made a bunch of friends. The prominent aspects of this institution that make it stand out are its family environment and small, close-knit community. Thanks to the small enrollement, students are not only able to not be overwhelmed in the way they would be in a overflowing public school but also there is more individual attention in classes. Anytime I needed help with anything, my teachers were more than delighted to assist until I was content that I understood the material. Parent: My son has been attending Marian Catholic and is currently a senior. He has grown in leadership, confidence and his faith tremendously! Marian has given him opportunities that other schools cannot and they strive to have their students exceed in many different avenues for life. The sports programs are excellent and really encourage teamwork and leadership. The academics are amazing and 'think outside the box' methods help all students excel and achieve their goals. My son has made life long friendships and commitment to be involved in many aspects of school life. High School Senior: It was a great experience to have learning in a small school. You become very close with the teachers and the students. My learning experience was great. Classes are very small so I was able to get that one on one feel with my teachers. If I could do my school experience all over again, choosing another school wouldn't even cross my mind. Senior: The teachers are very nice to their students and try to be involved. They try to make you the best possible student you can be. It is a very tight nit school. I'd like to see a change in the cleaning I think the school sometimes isn't cleaned enough such as dust collection in certain areas and the desks should be cleaned more often so it doesn't cause students to spread colds and things like that more often.... Parent: Pine Grove Area School District is the best! Our experience has always been overall good. So far, two of my children have attended Pine Grove Area School District schools from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. My youngest daughter is still in school, and will be a sophomore in the coming school year. The best part of our experience has been two part.. first, the curriculum. They provide the students with so many options and opportunities, teaching them great life skills. And they have a fantastic variety of electives that the students can choose from! Astronomy, Forensics, JROTC, Painting, Archery, among many others! My daughter will be taking Culinary next year, and she is so excited! That makes ME excited for her! I didn't have these choices as part of my education, and I am so glad that my children do. And the faculty... they are wonderful & encouraging! Our school district is like another branch of family. Senior: My middle school experience was fairly uneventful and standard, but maybe that's how school should be. It was a good school to attend and many basic foundations were taught there that would then be expanded upon once entering the high school. It was rudimentary, but rather useful and necessary. If I had to list any complaints, it would be of one specific teacher (who shall not be named) who was almost constantly in a miserable, unfriendly state towards nearly every student. I was in an accelerated class with all well-behaved intellectual students, yet we were still treated like delinquents. The said teacher's husband was on the school board and was partially responsible for putting the school millions of dollars in debt, so it's not an overstatement to say that their name is not well-liked.
