Alum: The teachers are awesome and so approachable! You can reach out to them with questions about almost anything ranging from academics to outside resources. The facilities are also very nice; the students are basically welcome to use anything and all the projects are supported, as long as a loose set of rules are followed. The social aspect of the student body at the school, however, can be a little iffy because everyone has known each other for a really long time -- sometimes it can be difficult on new kids to join the community.... Senior: I absolutely love Walden. I’m not popular but the are all family. The middle schoolers haven’t gotten the grasp of that just yet but they will. The teachers are amazing and you are not just a number to them. They put time and effort into each student they have currently or formerly , until they graduate. Walden does have middle school sports and I feel that is a great thing because most of the high school students want to focus heavily on their studies. Our college readiness has changed because now we have programs for dual credit, and they are not easy. We have 5 professors currently teaching at our school. When you step into your college class you are no longer a high school student, you are a college student. I’ve personally taken 3 college classes. Middle School Student: The school is great! This is a really good school for people who are looking to excel and do something in life. I wouldn't recommend this school to people who're just worried about their fashion and relationships. SOME teachers are nice and very helpful. Their response to student drama isn't really that good. But, they have some good qualities. Lockers could be updated and bathrooms, otherwise it's good to learn at. Also, sports are very costly, and you get nothing out of it so, consider that.... Senior: Burlington High School, despite its mixed reputation, does well to create a welcoming learning environment that tries to equally accomadate all students. They work hard to make teachers and faculty available to students. The sports programs are strong and that only helps to increase the school spirit. Every year for spirit week and occasionally at football games you'll see a sea of students clad in black and orange. Parent: JLS is an excellent school with wonderful staff. They are an IB school; teaching our kids to be productive adults that will have the skills necessary for such a diverse world. The learning environment is structured and the teachers provide curriculum that strives for academic success. Yes, the area around the school is not the best but my children have been going here for years without any incidents or me worrying about their safety! I can't say enough good things about this school and only hope they consider expanding this school if possible. They only go to the 5th grade at this school before merging into the RUSD pit! It would be nice if JLS had a middle school separate from RUSD public schools. I will not send my children to RUSD when their time is done at JLS.... Read 3 reviews

Senior: I had an excellent experience at Union Grove. We moved from a crowded suburban school to a high school in a rural area. I felt safer in this school. I loved that the school is smaller because the class sizes are smaller. I felt the teachers got to know you more as a person than just a number in a big school. It's great that the teachers had fun with the students while teaching at the same time. The curriculum offered numerous courses for almost everyone's interest. Another great aspect is that my school has a partnership with Gateway Technical college. I was able to take classes through them which not only helped me obtain college credit, but the school paid for the college classes. UG also offered numerous extracurricular activities. Parent: My 1st daughter was there 6-12th grade shortly after opening, she struggled with math in elementary so once she started at the Real they caught her and she excelled. We both loved it, the teachers go out of there way to help both students and parents. I also like the fact it is smaller and you don’t have the big school problems, bullying is rare and when it does happen it is taken care of immediately. Everyone knows everyone at the school it’s nice to have that. My 2nd daughter is there now I’m 7th she started in 6th and the only problem with her is she is more athletic then the 1st daughter and they don’t offer enough athletic programs but otherwise no complaints about the school.
