Senior: Craig High School is a very safe school. My overall experience here has not been so bad. The staff and students are friendly. Sometimes their choice in staff is questionable, I have not had the same English teacher for any years of my experience. Last year we had a teacher that was difficult to deal with and she was not friendly. Multiple students would get into trouble in her class and she did say some racist things. The administration did not really do anything about her. Her new replacement is nice and she is a great teacher.... Read 5 reviews

Parent: Very good school with a lot of hard working teachers!!! Definitely going to take my kid to this school. When he went up for Kindergarten Step Up Day he said all the teachers were extremely nice, and he learned a lot! I am very pleased with what he has learned and has been learning. Senior: For my high school, they do an amazing job at transitioning you from elementary school to middle school to high school. They are very meshed together and that in turn makes transitioning from one school to the next easier. They are also very closely located, making creating good and long-lasting relationships with current/future teachers easier. They are very community-orientated and help to include history and other education native to where we are located. Metlakatla High School has been by far one of the best high schools I've seen in southeast Alaska. For the longest time until just last year they held their athletes to a higher standard than all the other schools in Alaska. They had requirements for travel was no C's or missing school days before travel. All other schools in Alaska had a minimum of no D's or F's. This being a low standard set MHS apart from other Schools in Alaska. With this they pushed their students to achieve a higher standard of education then others.... Read 37 reviews

Senior: My experience at Klawock City School has been for the most part beneficial, and enjoyable. There are lots of exceptional parts that play into Klawock City School, but the best part about Klawock is that it’s a rural town school so, the sense of family and community is unmatched. We rarely have bullying problems, or any other confrontational issues around the school because we’ve all grown up together, especially in school since it's K-12. However, just like everything else, Klawock City School has its flaws. As a student at Klawock, I wasn’t given access to honors or AP classes for various reasons, as well as a number of basketball opportunities, due to funds, and scheduling. But overall Klawock City School is a great place to learn for the most part and provides an enjoyable experience for its students. The only factor that holds Klawock back is the availability of opportunities that comes with being located in a place as rural as Klawock, Alaska.... Read 1 review

High School Senior: This school has been a great thing for me and my siblings. I really love how the teachers take the time to truly instruct us. I also like how the needs of the student are put first. If someone isn't understanding a concept, the teachers will take the take the time to sit down and go over the problem with the student. Everything is catered towards helping the students to succeed. We are provided with some of the best opportunities to gain experience in a variety of fields of study, as well as assisted in our endeavors by several projects that are spearheaded by the school itself. For example, it is very expensive for students to participate on sports teams, because the cost of extracurricular activities is very high in the remote regions of Alaska. Recognizing this, the school teachers and administrators have set up several fundraising activities that help students raise money in order to participate on these teams. The teachers at this school are continually promoting the welfare of the students, oftentimes at the expense of their own time and money. Overall, my school provides students with a great learning environment. The teachers here are really focused on helping the students to achieve greater heights, and provide us with a variety of unique opportunities that can't be found elsewhere.... Read 10 reviews
