Aurora High School

Senior: Overall, my experience at Aurora was enjoyable. The teachers genuinely care about their student’s performance. For them, the student’s success is their success. Whenever, I struggled in a subject, I always had the opportunity to go in for extra help. The student can make private one-on-one sessions with a teacher during a free period, or he or she can stay after school and work in a group for an upcoming test. Aurora is a challenging school with many AP classes so the students are very fortunate to have this assistance. I felt like my overall education was valued. As for extracurricular activities, Aurora has plenty to choose from. From various sports, to theatre, to band, one is sure to find his or her niche. The importance of the student’s wellbeing carries from the classroom to these activities. The advisors/coaches truly want everyone to enjoy themselves. I am grateful to be graduating from Aurora. It has lots to offer that will help the students succeed in their future.

Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School

Alum: Bio-Med Science Academy is a very new and interesting school. I 100% am glad I went in comparison to my home district and home-schooling, but the school has a lot to improve on. I learned a lot and I am certainly prepared for college, but the workload can get so heavy and challenging that it became regular school culture to see people having mental breakdowns. I did make a lot of friends, the best friends I have ever had. The school has a high population of LGBTQ+ students and is fairly good about protecting them. Administration, in my opinion, is where things are dicey. The teachers, though, could not be more perfect. Nearly all of them are near and dear to my heart. Bio-Med is not for the faint of heart, but it's certainly an experience you will remember.

Theodore Roosevelt High School
#3 Best Public High Schools in Portage County

Junior: What I like about Theodore Roosevelt High school is the amount of opportunities we students are offered. The school offers many AP classes, IB classes, career technical schools from any area ranging from cosmetology to engineering to construction to aeronautics, and they also offer CCP classes which are classes that high school students can take at the Kent state campus. I haven’t had a truly bad experience at Roosevelt so far that relates to the school itself.

Streetsboro High School

Senior: In general my high school experience has been average. There is a lack of any school spirit and true creative expression throughout the school. Since the new high school was built, we’ve been limited in our ability to decorate any part of our halls. I think the administration is trying to improve that, but since i’m a senior it means close to nothing to me. Homecoming and homecoming week has been the most disappointing part of this decorative shutdown. The new high school just has a very disconnected feeling from the student body. Teachers are give and take, some great some less than. It depends on the student and they’re learning ability and preferences. Classes offered and the choices are nice. Some clubs to choose from. Great opportunities in volunteering and career planning if you put yourself out there.

James A. Garfield High School
#5 Best Public High Schools in Portage County

Senior: I like attending James A. Garfield High School. The teachers are understanding, helpful, personable, and nice people. They always make sure things are okay and making sure you are always doing your best. Everyone is always so nice. I like the freedom we are given at this school. They give you responsibility once it is earned and tests you to make sure you are worthy of the responsibility that is given. It is easy to succeed when you have everyone rooting and helping you along the way. The only thing I would change about my school is punishment. I think some of the think the punishment given is too light or they are let off with a warning. Sometimes the teachers are too nice and want to see the good in people so bad that they lighten punishments. I agree with them giving people shots, but when they continue to ruin those chances I think they should make harsher punishments for those who need it. To not only punish a kid but make the environment better for everyone else in the school.

Mogadore High School
- Mogadore Local School District, OH
- 47 reviews
Senior: Mogadore is a very nice school to go to and grow up in. The school is relatively small so everybody knows each other. The school is a big fan of sports and has other activities like band, choir, and drama. The school is very concerned for students safety and the teachers are very supportive and great.
