Aurora High School
1 Best Public High Schools in Portage County
- Aurora City School District, OH
Parent: The Aurora School District has a lot to be proud of. With having triplets in their senior year we have been able to step back and pondered on what the last eleven years in this community has represented and how they have achieved such success for their students.
From accelerated academic classes to challenge their minds to sport clubs that build teamwork and competitive spirits. Also, their ability to create social clubs that allow the kids to give back to their community and accept diversity in everyday life. They create an environment of safety and respect. The message being that everybody is different but that is what makes us a community. Our children are prepared to face the world with the knowledge and confidence that is needed to be successful. We are thankful to call this city our home and our children will be better adults because of it.

Theodore Roosevelt High School
2 Best Public High Schools in Portage County
- Kent City School District, OH
Senior: I had a great high school experience attending Theodore Roosevelt High School. Even if they don’t win a lot of school sports games, the students carry on the school spirit. There are so many different personalities which make it easy for new students to be themselves. If there’s any problem with bullies, the administration takes care of it right away because there’s a zero tolerance for it at Roosevelt. Every day when the students walk into the school, the school principal, Mr. Love welcomes everyone every morning. Teachers truly care for their student’s goals and ambitions. Some weird things happened to Roosevelt in the past with a teacher who turned out to be a porn star, having a (child friendly) snake temporally escape from the biology room, and numerous power outages. All the odd situations make the Roosevelt students come together as a whole and make Rider Pride.

Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School
3 Best Public High Schools in Portage County
- Public School
- Rootstown, OH
Junior: I like that Bio-Med Science Academy because the school is very well rounded. We have a very nice community, we provide clubs that everyone could be involved in, and we have "accelerated term." Accelerated term is when we take classes that we don't normally take. For example, we have classes that provide opportunities like dissections, intro to nursing, yoga, ACT prep, etc. The school has a comfortable atmosphere because all the people/teachers are very nice and understanding. We also do this cool thing called Family group. Once a month we meet up with our family group and we do activities and other group things. The family groups consist of Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. On thing I would change would be the size of the school. We use the college lunch room, and the floor in general is just small.

Southeast High School
- Southeast Local School District (Ravenna), OH
Sophomore: Other school's call us the Red-nick school. But for 11 years now going to Southeast Schools I've been having a great experience, meeting new upper class-men. For my first year in high at Southeast it felt like home, like I belonged. Southeast can be that school everyone talks trash about. At least we're family. We take good care of each other. Literally some students and staff at the Southeast are family. I had family at southeast that graduated many years ago and this year. If you ask me how I like going to Southeast I would probably say it's amazing we have each others back. We care for each other. If you ask if I had the chance going to a different or better school would you take that chance. Honestly, I wouldn't Southeast is one of the best schools you can go to. Unless you don't like us Red-nicks, Hillbillies, Farm Kids. Whatever you calls us, we're better than any other. I have to say Southeast is my second home and I'll really miss it when I graduate in June 2020.

Crestwood High School
- Crestwood Local School District, OH
Alum: Crestwood school district is highly rated for its academics due to the caring teachers. It is a great small school. Would like to see the community (the families without students in the system) support the school more.
