Junior: Hillcrest is a christian school that helps you to create a stronger bond to Jesus Christ in several ways. For instance, there is chapel 3 times a weak, where bright and motivated speakers encourages the growth of ones faith. They also offer classes which truly helps you to get a deeper understanding of the christian faith. One thing I loved about Hillcrest was that I was able to interact and form bonds with people from all over the world. I gained knowledge from different cultures at Hillcrest; as it is a cultural melting point (people from Norway, South-Korea, China etc. and of course from different states in the USA).I established great friendships and experiences. I really enjoyed the dorm life, because there was no problem socialicing as your friend where straight across the hall. I have really fond memories of hanging out with people in the dorms, and in the common area. I miss Hillcrest a lot, and wish I had the possibility to experience it all over again.

Senior: Battle Lake school has a good range of academics. For me, music was the big one. The choir sings compositions from many different cultures. Furthermore, the band department plays a good mixture of moderate to hard compositions. Both the band and choir directors are always enthusiastic for students to discover their talents in music.

Kennedy High School
#2 Best Public High Schools in Otter Tail County

Alum: The best part about Kennedy high school, while I was there, was how safe I felt while I was at school. The size of the school probably helped with this factor, as my graduating class was around 145 students. One aspect of the school that I would like to see improve is the high emphasis on student clubs, as well as diversity. What I noticed during my time at Kennedy is that the advertising and promotion for student clubs was very poor, resulting in very few students knowing about or even joining these clubs. Athletics seems to be a higher priority at Kennedy high, versus clubs, whether their academic or not. Overall, my experience at Kennedy high school was generally positive. There are many reasons for why I am grateful to have received my high school education there.

Alum: Parkers Prairie is a wonderful high school full of dedicated teachers who care about their students. The school has a wide variety of college courses available, which sets students in the right direction for higher education. Extracurricular activities such as speech, history club, and of course sports allow for a fulfilling high school experience to be had. Although, students should be allowed a little more freedom of personality. Also, possibly changing to fewer classes in a day and adding a few extra minutes to relax may be beneficial to the mental health of the students.

Perham Senior High School

Senior: I've attended six different schools in my twelve years of schooling.compared to other schools the Perham atmosphere teaches you how to be independent, and improve your time management skills which is what most benefited me. Each school I've been in has had its own list of pros and cons, but the students at Perham High School has made up most of Perham's pro-list. The students are taught to not only treat others how they want to be treated, but also to respect others as they respect themselves.
I love how active the community is with the Perham education system. Back in September, the entire Perham community was included in the Perham-Dent District homecoming parade. All staff, students, and parents had fun being apart of the parade, and supporting the varsity football team.
No other school I've been to has been so connected with the community, My experience has overall been very good, and I am glad that I got to spend my senior year here.

Junior: I like this school a lot, the teachers are nice and it provides everything you need to learn. However, there aren't very many after school activities other than sports, and there isn't very much around town. Since I'm not interested in after school activities, this doesn't really affect me.

Freshman: I enjoy New York Mills school. They have really good teachers and a variety of tools to help you on your way to a successful future. Sometimes they may have a hard time connecting with the students, but you can tell they try. There isn't a large variety in race, religion. and sexuality. The kids aren't the most accepting, but they seem to be getting better at being nicer. Overall, it's a good school and I'm lucky to go there.
