Amelia Island Montessori School
Parent: Inside and out, a true Montessori school. As a current parents, my first impressions: tucked away into nature, an idyllic setting with green space, gardens outside each classroom, a chicken coop (yes, they sell the eggs), and a delightful assortment of outdoor projects.
Inside the classroom: the Maria Montessori philosophy at work. Mixed-age classrooms, wooden materials that encourage critical thinking, children quiet and focused on their learning-by-doing work; teachers directing and encouraging rather than lecturing.
For a parent of two young ones, this is the only school on Amelia Island that honors and respects the fullness of childhood. There's an element of magic here.
