Senior: My experience with Mona Shores High School was overall a good one. The district has a lot to offer: sports, opportunities in the fine arts, and countless clubs that cover a variety of topics. Moreover, the district values academics and holds students to a high standard of education. There are numerous Advanced Placement (AP) classes offered at the high school, giving students that opportunity to gain college credit before actually going to college. The atmosphere at MSHS is also very upbeat, or energetic. School spirit is certainly abundant. However, I would love to see more things celebrated other than just the top sports, football and basketball. In addition, I think having a system where students can give feedback to faculty would be beneficial. While it is understandable that teachers cannot cater to each individual student, better communication between the two would be mutually favorable.... Read 289 reviews

Works Here: I love teaching at MMAEC and couldn’t imagine more dedicated and knowledgeable coworkers than what we have. The parents are involved in their children’s education from PreK through 8th grade. We are continuously seeking new and rigorous opportunities for our students to grow and learn not only as scholars but as global community members. Our hope is that all students leave our building ready to take on the challenges in the next chapter of their lives. The student population is diverse and comes to us from many different areas of Muskegon and from every social-economic status. We are able to lead the students in curriculum that is designed to be rigorous while still addressing the unique needs of every child and addressing the Common Core State Standards. Senior: I liked most things about North Muskegon, but my favorite thing about my experience there was their musical program. The music teachers are all dedicated to teaching their students to not just learn how to play music, but learn how to love it. I think it is a very academically rigorous school, and helped me to be more educationally prepared for college. The teachers are almost always willing and ready to help if there are questions. One thing I wish to see changed is the diversity in the school. There is such a lack of diversity it became really disappointing to me as I started to realize that, in the whole high school, I could count how many people of color there were on one hand. There weren't many resources for counciling, but there has been plenty of help with college readiness and the college support starts early. Other than those few things it is a great school with amazing teachers that teach the students not only the assigned subject, but life skills as well.... Read 111 reviews

Senior: I really like WMC. I went to a public school through middle school, so switching to a religious private school was a great change of pace. I find that people that involve themselves in the school and go to all outside events like the school a lot more than those who only go to classes. Senior: My experience at Muskegon Catholic Central was excellent. It is a small school with about 170 in the high school, so you are able to participate in any or every sport you would like. Students are also pushed academically. In our academics many higher courses are provided and students are expected to get good grades and even if they are not they have the opportunity to meet one on one with the teachers outside of our 15 student classes. Students in this high school are also given the opportunity to express how they feel and get a chance to change some rules. For example, a rule that has been challenged and changed is getting uniform sweatshirts instead of only being able to wear the uniform shirt. This and other rule changes are nice because it does not feel so much like we are being controlled but more like we are a community who cares about each other. Senior: I have been going to Calvary for 13 years and I have loved every second of it. I have grown more in my relationship with Christ. My classmates are my brothers and sisters, all 14 of them! Whenever I need help with any life situation, I can go to any of the teachers/administration or any of my classmates. Chapel services at Calvary has been an amazing experience for me. I sing, play acoustic guitar and piano for the worship team and have been doing so since I was in 10th grade.
