Alum: I loved going to high school here (I graduated in 2020). I understand many students have different experiences in school and some like school more than others. Being interested in education and education reform, I feel like I saw Mooresville High School improve each year I was there (In terms of athletics, music department, academics, college prep, etc.). The subject that I felt most prepared me for my post-high school plans was the English department. In comparison to many of my college classmates, many of them were not sufficiently taught how to analyze readings and write compelling papers. I will often times be asked by professors to assist many of my classmates with writing. I definitely give a lot of the credit for my writing/analysis abilities to the High School. I definitely recommend students to take all college/Honors English courses if they plan to pursue a college education. One area of improvement is that they lack ethnic diversity.... Read 287 reviews

Alum: Martinsville High School, for me, had its ups and downs, but overall prepared me well for college. Martinsville, being a smaller, less-diverse town, with limited access to resources for students in the past, has a decent sized population of students for its capacity. While it seemed like my high school set some its focus on certain aspects of education more than others, I believe Martinsville is heading in the right direction of providing more opportunities and a wider range of education in different fields. I know this because my younger brother, a freshman at Martinsville High School, has told me about his classes and extracurricular activities that did not exist even a year ago. Senior: My experience at Monrovia High School was a normal high school experience. I moved to Monrovia after volleyball season at my old school was over, and when I first got there I thought that I wasn’t going to have any friends besides my sister and I would be alone. Some of the kids turned out to be really nice and I made friends a lot easier than I thought I would. The teachers were all nice and really helpful with the transfers of my old school classes to my new school classes. The counselors were really helpful with transferring all my credits. I liked that all the staff at Monrovia was very helpful whenever I needed help. I like that most of the students were really helpful and really kind. Parent: My children love MCA! My daughter started at 3 and is thriving in 2nd grade. My son just started prek. It truly is individualized education! The teachers are phenomenal. The administration as well. They all truly CARE about the kids. Communication with parents with newsletters emails and even down to being given teachers cell phone numbers and receiving picture mails with my kids accomplishments (while im at work) is incredible. The extra curricular, activities, fine arts, community events and fine arts are amazing. They really take the time to teach the kids fostering independence and loving GOD!
