Elyria Christian School

Niche User: I actually only attended a few years ago when I was a freshman, now I go to and international school in Latin America, so I couldn’t rate that one. I, for one had a wonderful experience at this institution, and i would 10/10 recommend it to a person who was looking for that type of school. In choosing this school, be very aware that it is a small private Christian school. If you want the public school atmosphere, go to public school. The emphasis here is very community minded, and you end up knowing everybody. If that’s not for you, then don’t attend, because that is what you are going to get. I had wonderful experiences on the whole with the teachers, and I still remember a lot of things they taught me, even though it’s been two years since I was in their classes. That’s more than I could say about my current teachers. All in all, I would reccomdend this school to you if you are on the search for a small Christian school with strong values and a community-focus.

Senior: Extremely competitive environment. Takes a special type of ambitious, intrinsically driven, child to thrive here. Teaches kids skill such as confidence in ones ability to perform as well as how to talk to adults in a professional manner, these are skills that just can't be learned in public school. There is a lot of extreme social, academic, and athletic pressure to perform well here. There is little to no space for type B personalities and you will find a lot of extremely driven "Work hard play hard" type students here! its always "go go go go time" at NA

Senior: Smoky Valley High School is an institution where I feel safe and validated. The teachers are knowledgeable and always willing to lend a helping hand. Furthermore, they are eager and enthusiastic about teaching. The students are easy to get along with, and it's nice to know almost everyone.
The athletic department at Smoky Valley fosters integrity, pride, and hard work, but also companionship and humility.
Smoky Valley also offers many musical opportunities as well as club opportunities, so there is always something for someone!

Parent: Sports, last name, zero parent involvement, very little information given to parents regarding school, students and activities. Zero accountability for money being spent. The most ill run school system I have ever seen. Absolutely disenchanted. Great town. Beyond terrible administration. Teachers who care. But, have no one to lead them. feels like you're in the twilight zone. Stay away. Or, put your children in another school system!

Senior: It is a good school for people to find themselves, but is like other schools, it has its flaws. I love how the teachers there are always helpful, especially when kids don't understand. I get extra help on anything if I need it. They make me feel welcomed, I would not be the person I am today without them. I had a hard time when I started school in third grade, I went to a school that would teach or help me with anything. They will never know how much they have helped me learn and understand the way I do now!

Alum: I was very excited to go to McPherson High School! I had made it into a varsity sport as a freshman, I was in the color guard, and was able to join many clubs. The classes were very accommodating to what we were wanting to do with our futures! We have amazing science courses, business classes and accounting classes, and offer auto classes and welding classes for those who wish to do hands on work. Our sports have grown and our school stays united through teamwork and tradition. At every game you go to you hear all of our students and alumni singing our fight song, and as you leave you remember that once you’re a bullpup you’re always a bullpup. “Hail McPherson High School!”
