Senior: Fort Myers High was a very welcoming school when I first got there. Throughout my 4 years there, I received so much help from all of the staff. With one of my teachers introducing me to track, I am now going to college on and athletic scholarship. The IB program I feel has prepared me so much for college. I was involved in many clubs in which many teachers sponsored them. There was not one time I felt like I was on my own throughout my high school career. Fort Myers was a great choice in receiving my high school diploma, especially offering different types of learning including IB, AP, AICE, dual enrollment, honors and traditional classes. I feel that Fort Myers is also very welcoming to special need students as there are so many staff who are willing to help. One of my track coaches knew sign language so anyone could participate!... Senior: At Bishop Verot High School, I loved the sense of community the students and faculty had. The school community was very active, and there were endless opportunities to get involved and meet new people through sports, clubs, and school events/functions. Academically, I felt that most of the teachers I had cared deeply about their students’ success, especially AP teachers making sure we were prepared for AP exams. As a senior, I feel very prepared for college, and I appreciate how during senior year, our college counselor helped us every step of the way in the college application process. Lastly, since our school is a Catholic school, I felt that the religious side of our school was okay, but was not extremely strong and had room for improvement. But there were opportunities to express your faith, such as joining Catholics in Action club, and the school did have monthly masses. Overall, my experience at the school was very good.... Freshman: This year was my first year at North. I actually quite enjoyed it however there were some bumps. We had a few pep rallies and a bunch of movie nights. The football games are highlighted at our school along with out arts! Arts is a big part of North’s history. Our band department is involved with many of our events and helps out so much. It’s an experience many of the students are involved. Even though I’m not in band I know many people who are and they enjoy it so much! Another big part of North is the AICE program. I am a part of AICE and recommend it for students with high grades, capability to do harder work, and also do good on timed tests. AICE looks good on college applications. I do have to say that you just definitely get involved in the clubs at North especially the ones that raise money for children’s hospitals and help out with the life skills classrooms. Alum: Cape Coral High School gave me a chance to reconnect with friends from primary and middle school. Going to Cape Coral High School provided me with plenty of opportunities to get involved in the community and the school. However, the school does lack proper budgeting for sports and club programs which does limit the resources available to the student-run programs. Despite this pitfall there were a variety of activities for students to get involved. A major issue was the divide between IB program students and their other peers. There was a clear distinction between the students in the IB program and the students in general education, honors, and dual-enrollment programs. This can cause a rift since the students aren't given many opportunities to interact with each other. Niche User: This school is positively the best elementary school out there! Some of my most cherished childhood memories stem from this place. The staff is very warm and kind, and they have a genuine interest in helping every student succeed. They also teach children and educate them far better than any other elementary school I've been to, and they teach creatively as well. They are always aware of the student's safety also. I remember cultivating my love for reading here. I remember when we all had a "Roman", "Chinese", and "Pilgrim" day, when we would devote a whole day to living and learning as each of these people did to further enrich our knowledge...we even wrote on wax as the Romans did that day! We also participated in plays set up by the school, were versed in how to write cursive and read Roman numerals well. Junior: In terms of the two most important parts of high school, academics and environment/safety, Oasis is easily one of the best in the district and especially the city. For Academics, The AICE program (and several AP classes) provides students with lots of opportunities to get college credits during High School. The teachers do a great job at teaching the content of their classes and making sure as many people as possible pass. The academics easily match up with North Ft Myers's AICE program and in some ways, are better. The environment at the school is very friendly and safe. Bullying and drugs are not nearly as big of a problem as they are at other public schools. That is what really sets Oasis apart from the other schools in the county, such as North. The administration and teachers are very friendly and actually try to get to know and understand students. Senior: I like Cypress Lake High School because of the united community we have. Cypress is an arts school, and the profound support we have from students for both arts performances and sporting events is incredible. We have a spirit club called the Panther Pack and it coordinates events and themes to get people involved. The staff is very nice and supportive and the students at the school are very welcoming. While we don't have the most successful sports teams because we are an arts focused school, we still have immense support from our community.
