Senior: I love the teachers here at Neshannock! They really care about each and every student and want to see them thrive. All the teachers offer "10th period" where you can stay after school to work on something to get a better understanding. Other teachers offer to come into school early or even use their prep to help their students. Niche User: I will be honest i have never gone to union actually i go to mohawk but overall i did my research and it seems like a cool school the only thing not to like about the school is the sports programs but of course the programs are not going to be good in a school with around 300 people but it looks like the academics are great mostly due to the fact it is a small school so i would guess less kids in a classroom so more interaction between a teacher and their kids union i have been in that area tons of times i love how quiet it is it at least seems to me that it is safer than most of new castle so overall while it may not be as big as new castle mohawk shenango blackhawk or beaver falls it still is a great school in a great suburb of new castle and they love their scotties!... Senior: Shenango High School is a great, small scale school that may initially lack the flair and attractiveness of larger schools, but it excels in the necessities. It has wonderful staff, passionate teachers, and great academic opportunities. If your looking for many extracurricular activities, however, I would maybe abstain from this school as it has limited resources. Senior: I would highly recommend Laurel Jr/Sr Highschool to all families! I moved to Laurel in 10th grade to take care of my grandmother. My grandmother was diagnosed with Pullmonary Fibrosis on December 15th, 2013 and given only a few years to live. We moved into her house and built her on a mother in law suite to be as comfortable as possible. I would spend my every afternoon being with her and helping her. The thought of moving to another school seemed extremely hard and nerve racking. Although, Laurel Highschool made things a thousand times easy and were very helpful! They supported me through everything! Any time I had any questions someone would be right by my side helping me. I made many life long friends! Everyone was so caring and many even supoorted me at my grandmas funeral on November 27th, 2015. I would highly recommend any family to move to Laurel Jr/Sr Highschool for their children!... Senior: Contrary to popular belief, New Castle is actually a pretty good school. There are lots of extracurricular activities for the students, including a robotics team, PJAS, and tons of sports. I can only speak for honors/AP classes, but the teachers and academics within those programs are amazing, especially compared to some other local schools. Security at New Castle is superior to schools nearby, with all entering the building going through metal detectors and their bags searched. The building was built recently, having been completed in 2006. That has caused New Castle to be a relatively clean, semi-technologically advanced school. Some students are given their own Chromebooks to use, however I would much rather prefer a Windows laptop be given due to the limited functionality of Chromebooks. Food is average, but I still bring my own lunch. I rate my experience four-stars, but many less-academically advantaged students have a significantly rougher time at this school, I have found.... Senior: Lincoln Junior/Senior High School is a wonderful place to go to school. Sure, it might have smaller classes than other schools, but here, everyone knows each other. The teachers here are also full of personality and supportive of their students. The events here are fun, such as our dances (though I wish we could have more!), and there’s a lot of sports and clubs. It’s hard to be bored here! If you ask me, all I could ask for are more events. In my 6 school years having gone to LHS (from 7th-12th grade) I’ve seen a lot go by. I’ve made so many friends over the years, been a part of clubs and sports (I even had positions in some such as Spanish Club), of course the pandemic took us all out of school for a while, so I do feel like I’ve missed a bit of it, but I’m going to miss it all. Senior: My teachers from Lcctc have been phenomenal. they have taught me much more than teachers at my home school. They have unique ways of teaching to make sure their material gets through to you, if one is not grasping it for any reason they go out of their way to make sure they understand it. I've had minimal issues with the teachers and staff here, they take great care of their students when it comes to preparing them for the real world, making sure they're safe and comfortable, and when one is having personal issues not only do they take action but they are empathetic as a teacher and just as a normal human being. The shops are great as well. They are simulated to be as close to the real world work environments as possible. We go through various real life tests and get as prepared as possible for what we would like to do in life. Parent: North Side is no longer K-5th, it's only K-2nd for the entire district. The teachers are wonderful. Curriculum is on point. I'm underwhelmed with the parent involvement and PTO.
