Trout Lake High School

High School Senior: The environment at this school is what I would like safe. Every day I can walk in the doors and know that whatever happens my friends and teachers will be there to help and support me. Before attending this school I went to a very large school where I felt unimportant. I didn't feel confident and therefore I was for self conscious. Trout Lake has brought me out of my shell and made me more comfortable in my own skin. I have joined in more school activities and are far more outgoing then I ever though possible. Being a part of the cheer team was an amazing experience and proved how comfortable I feel around these people. The community is also a huge part of the school. Our basketball games are full of not only parents and students but also various community members. Over all Trout Lake school has been nothing but great!

Parent: My children both graduated from AWS, and I am compelled to write this review because they are so wonderfully prepared for college. Thank you Annie Wright! The care and professionalism demonstrated by the teachers is amazing. My kids are not only academically prepared, they know how to advocate for themselves, and build relationships with their professors at college. They have started the boys school now I hear, and although I had some reservations initially, I do agree that this extraordinary IB education should be available to all kids in the South Sound. This school is making a difference in the lives of kids, families and helping the development of the region.

Niche User: This school is great because everybody gets along with everybody and nobody every has to worry about their personal belongings being stolen. Also, the alumni and staff here, are great! They always get along with their students and will do everything they can to make sure their students understand what is being taught.

Sophomore: My experience has been good, but there are a few things that probably need to change. It’s a small school so there aren’t a lot of options or choices for elective classes. I wish there were more elective classes that you got to choose instead of 2-3 classes that you get to pick from.

Goldendale High School
- Goldendale School District, WA
Senior: At Goldendale High School I like most of my teachers and how they are open to a student teacher relationship. They are dedicated to helping you and making sure they give you the tools and knowledge to succeed. What I would like to see at Goldendale High School is the administration have a more "for the student" mentality. Right now it seems as if they are against the students. They aren't going the extra step to make sure the student’s best interests, or well-being is first priority. Without an administration that is working together for the students to better their school, and learning opportunities the students aren't going to open up and put forth the extra effort.

Lyle High School
- Lyle School District, WA
Alum: Things have changed since I've been in school. I graduated two years ago and the school has changed for the better. You walk into the school and feel welcome rather than feeling like you are just here to work. Classes have changed and have a variety to choose from. I've seen more students taking running start and applying for scholarships than ever before. When I was a student, the atmosphere was negative and it felt like there was a large weight on your body. It seems that most of the negativity has vanished. There are clubs focused on academics and hardly any focused on hobbies and none with students interested. The teachers have changed and I hope they have inspired students to work harder. While I might not have liked my years at Lyle I will say that it has changed from a dreary, sad place to a place of learning.
