Junior: Its a really good school, it helps you learn and explore yourself throughout the school years. The school has clean facilities and it has new buildings, tho I would like the lockers to be a little bit bigger to fit more stuff inside but overall that is all my complaints, you are able to get along with people and they have good academic classes. You are very safe in the facilites nothing bad happens. Your teachers will treat you nicely and they treat you well. We have lots of space throughout the school. Sports are a great way to spend your evening and everyone gets along in these. You have transportation and you are very free to choose the way you style your hair and the way you style your nails. If you choose to take AP classes they will help you a lot withing your school year and for your future college applications, it is a Catholic school so religion is implemented but they accept you if you are from other religions.... Senior: The school culture was one of my favorite parts about attending Southwest High School. The school pride shared by the majority of students made it enjoyable and encouraged students to attend school events such as sports games and other school functions. Many of my teachers also continue to provide me with schools that will prepare me for college, such as punctuality, perseverance, and organization. All the clubs and sports offered at Southwest High School have also made it an amazing school to attend, as I have been given the opportunity to play many sports, such as volleyball, basketball, and track. Alum: The overall Calipatria High experience as a student is very great. One can easily get involved in sports, clubs, and other extra curriculars. The staff and teachers are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, one major are in which the school is lacking is university preparation. A lot of resources are provided for students who are falling behind, and in my experience as a top student applying to multiple four-year universities, not much help was provided. Staff would give reminders such as "remember to do your fafsa", but were not as helpful as when helping students who fell behind. Niche User: If you enjoy having a tight knit community, Holtville High School would be a good fit. There are many sports for students to chose from however, there are not many options for classes or clubs. There is few AP classes offered on campus but the school allows students to take AP classes online at freedom academy. Staff at Holtville High School is very helpful. The main downside is the lack of variety for classes and clubs, although this isn't much of a problem unless a student is looking to apply to a very competitive university. Senior: I have gone to Brawley Union High School for all of my high school years and I can say that it is the best school out of the Imperial Valley. The community in Brawley and the students that go to BUHS make the best culture. The staff and teachers that work at Brawley care for the students and really allow their students to do their best. Everyone is allowed to be theirselves at BUHS and express themselves through the many different courses that Brawley has to offer. Personally, I want to go into the nursing field so I am enrolled in the CNA program and it is the best course that I have ever taken; I would recommend it to anybody at BUHS who is considering nursing as their career. Senior: In my experience with Calexico Mission School all these years from attending from fourth grade to now my Senior year, has been excellent. All these years I've been there, they've helped me a lot into growing into the person I've become. I have nothing but good things to say except that their college readiness could improve and so could their clubs and activities. Some years ago they had may different clubs in which students could sign up and express themselves in which they could, but they sadly took that away. If the administration could possibly bring back any club that could be added into a students transcript would help a lot in a students college journey. Aside from what they could improve, Calexico Mission School teachers and students have this special connection that I've never seen before and is rare.
