Niche User: I've been with Wider Horizons School my entire life, since I was in Pre-K. I have to say, everyone I met there was like family, yet the curriculum is not for your average student. The academics are exceptional and prepare you to go to college. The teachers, when I was there, were always kind and helped the students whenever needed. I only wish that the school offered more social programs to make things more exciting. Overall, I enjoyed my time at this school and would recommend it to others, noting that Wider Horizons is a rigorous school and bad behavior or low grades are not tolerated.... Read 3 reviews

Senior: I am a student in the IB program here, the teachers for this program are phenomenal, and the program is very stimulating and engaging. There is a bit of a vape problem but that is not as prominent in IB so that has not affected me too negatively. The only thing I would want changed is for there to be less vapes, and for the school to spend their money on things that are more important. Senior: I ABSOLUTELY love my teachers at Nature Coast Technical High School! Our math department is amazing! I am a senior at this school and I can honestly say I wouldn’t have wanted to go anywhere else. Nature Coast has provided me with many skills I will need in the future. The only reason I am giving it a 4/5 is because of the favoritism teachers and staff practice towards sports players and the lack of discipline in teachers who cross lines. I would love to see admin get more strict on teachers and eachother, but all around, it’s an amazing school. Alum: I am a recent graduate of HCA, as I graduated in 2022. Though HCA has had its ups and downs, I have had a great experience. I have attended HCA for thirteen years, which means I started there at the age of five. The teachers that I have had over the years have been very helpful. Senior: It was a great 4 year experience and would definitely recommend, there was a great amount of teachers that shaped me to who I am today and also helped prepare me for college. I was very involved so there was plenty of different clubs to chose from all with a great atmosphere and student involvement. I was also a part of 5 varsity sports and was able to see the how vast the school spirit really was and I enjoyed having the administrators come and support all the different teams. Junior: We have so many programs in place to set us up for success in life. I wish there was more guidance provided to students so they can achieve the most out of the public education offered. It is available to us, and I believe most would take advantage of it, if they had the information and advice of the school professionals. For example, when I began dual enrollment, I received little information about which courses to take. I went to the local college to discuss with a guidance professional there. It was so informative and put me on track so that I will graduate high school with my AS degree geared toward a STEM major at a four year university. Without that, I do not know that I would be on the same path. I truly believe if more students had the information, they too would take advantage of the duel enrollment opportunity or other career prep programs. Senior: I transferred here specifically for the AICE Program after deciding the IB Program at Springstead was a touch too rigid for me, and it has exceeded my expectations. It's very flexible as they add 2-3 more options every year. You need to take at least 7 AICE classes while in high school, but you're able to choose which 7 you'd like to take (out of ~15 this year). Every teacher I've had for AICE have been among my favorites for their kindness and humor The guidance counselors here are always helpful, granted it also means they can be busy. The staff here is very LGBT-friendly; I'm transgender and they've always helped make my time at school safe, let me access gender-neutral bathrooms, and make sure my teachers know my chosen name.... Parent: I like the school so far but they need to figure out a system for drop off and pick up maybe open up the bus area after the buses have loaded and left, someone to direct traffic when you get to entrance I come early so my child can get breakfast but still she doesn't get out of car till 830 maybe open school earlier or push back start time but a nearly 1 to 2 hrs sitting in pick up line after school is out is excessive.The teachers do try very hard no complaints there.What is the cops there for looks beside escorting buses because the pick up line is too long figure he could direct traffic and some of the issues will be solved....
