Middle School Student: I’m a current student at Dedham and love it. We have amazing teachers and get to do amazing things. We recently got a grant for around thirty mountain bikes to use on the trails behind our school. Alum: MDIHS does a really good job of creating a progressive & accessible learning environment. The grading techniques and openness of the teachers is very helpful to students. I think the best thing about MDIHS are its extracurriculars. Organizations like the Anti-Racism Task Force, Eco team, and the Restorative Board are what's making MDI a safer environment for students and staff, and these need to receive more support and energy from administrators.... High School Senior: I spent my childhood growing up at this school. From 2003 to 2012 I was around the same people who became family and friends. Parent: I am a parent of a current senior at George Stevens Academy. We moved to Blue Hill at the beginning of my daughter's junior year - a challenging time to transfer high schools. We were both nervous. My daughter's experience has been outstanding! Not only has she been challenged and supported academically developed, my daughter has thrived. She has participated in athletics and has found a genuine group of friends and peers. My daughter has found her academic strengths and has been so happy here. This is a safe, supportive, caring environment and not only has my child developed strong peer relationships, but she has also made incredible connections with her teachers, advisor, and administrator. Alum: The community is very supportive to the school and students with parents, family and friends involved in sports events and other activities. Teachers are helpful and also do a good job making sure students have the resources and support they need to succeed. Even through challenges of COVID, the school system worked to find creative ways to make the inconveniences less restrictive, realizing the difficulties to the kids. Senior: Ellsworth High School is one of the many schools I have been to. While it isn't perfect, Ellsworth is the best district I have ever been in. Even though my classes have been tougher this year, my teachers are willing to help me, no matter how confused I am. I've been taking Dual Enrollment classes since my junior year, which is why I have been struggling more. Even with the struggles I've been facing this year, I feel more prepared to go into my college courses next year because I have been doing similar levels of work while having the support of the teachers I have known for the last four years. There aren't many things I can complain about other than not taking finals or mid-terms. While I enjoy not having the stress, I also don't feel quite prepared enough to go into classes next year being one of the few students that have never taken a mid-term. Senior: Describing Sumner Memorial High would probably be different from describing any other school. I have attended this school in two different buildings! The first building, Sumner Memorial High School, was a bit old. During my sophomore year, some storms had caused a lot of rooms to flood! It was quite a mess. The staff did their best to keep us in safe areas though. It had a wonderful library, I spent lots of time in there. Our school encouraged welcoming and welcomed all different types of people, and still does! Now, I am attending the new school, named Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus, and it is quite new, and wonderful, and it feels so nice to be in such a new school. The only problem I have in this new school is I feel a bit cold all the time, and there are no paper towels in the bathroom, just hand dryers (personal preference). Most of the teachers here are quite wonderful and I love talking about them during class and in-between periods. Sumner is a truly wonderful place!... Read 51 reviews

Niche User: What I most liked about Mountain View was the people. It was a school that encouraged you to grow. The staff was always supportive, and never once were my goals doubted. It was a place to meet new people, having the combination of two towns, it made it more of a High School atmosphere, which I think helped prepare me for Sumner. Last but not least the curriculum was challenging enough to prepare me for high school, but not too challenging where I ever felt left behind. The only thing that I would have changed about the school was the actual layout. From year to year there was different out buildings, and classrooms would get moved frequently. As far as I know that has changed. If I could go back in time I would definitely go back to a period where I was in that school.... Read 1 review
