Senior: Urbana High School is a great school with fantastic academics. The environment can feel pretty cutthroat at times, however, with many high achieving students competing against each other for the best GPA, college acceptances, etc. The teachers do an excellent job of teaching their classes and prepare students well for college. There are plenty of AP classes to choose from and earn college credit, with the passing rate on the AP tests being extremely high at the school. There is also an IB program offered for students who want to earn college credit that way. The sports teams are pretty average, but there is plenty of school spirit and game attendance. Low diversity (mostly Asians and Whites), but I never felt that others were excluded due to their race. Overall a very good school. Go Hawks!...Read 497 Reviews

Senior: Teachers are great but some can be annoying. Students and staff members are awesome! Academics is really good since there are a lot of AP classes with great teachers! If you are going into the STEM field(I am), this school is perfect for that. Administration can be improved though, some of them are not even happy to be there. Even though this a 10 year old school, there is a tremendous amount of school spirit! Sports are very competitive here because our school teams go to states very often and win! Oakdale High School overall is a really great high school, but administrators, food, facilities, and resources can be improved on...Read 209 Reviews

Senior: This is such an amazing environment and I am sad to be leaving next year. It is entirely worth the cost to attend rather than public school. The teachers are so enthusiastic and care so much about their students (with the exception of a couple of course, but its rare to have a teacher that isn't great quality. I have not had one teacher at this school that did not give me a quality education, even if I might not have like one or two of their personalities). I used to go to public school where everyone was tense and anxious and mean to one another and pretended to hate all their classes. Girls I barely knew would threaten to beat me up in the hallway if I accidentally made eye contact with them. Its so much different at SJCP. Students here are interesting and engaged. They care about learning. And if they threaten to jump you in the hallway you know they're kidding. Not to mention how they are safely managing to carry out hybrid learning during the pandemic!!...Read 86 Reviews

Sophomore: I was hesitant with the choice to transfer my schooling to online and to ICL Academy. Will I learn? Will I have friends? The list goes on and on, but my concerns are no longer relevant following my first year of online schooling at ICL. I am shocked by my level of consistently motivated spirit to learn. I can confidently give the credit to the applicableness of my learning. I can easily relate it to myself. I am amazed by the increased efficiency during school time; through a good balance of structured learning, and freedom when necessary. Everyone has different needs and schedules. Icl does a tremendous job with flexibility. For example, I found I had some extra time during the day, so I enrolled in a college level psychology class and two more rigorous classes at they're sister school: Dwight Global. Most importantly, the community is amazing. Almost everyone participates on a high level, and there is no shortage of thoughts and opinions being dished out in class. 10/10 rec to ICl!...Read 40 Reviews

Parent: While there are so many great things I could list about Centerville Elementary, there is one thing I want to point out and give credit for. The teachers and staff have gone above and beyond for my child especially during the pandemic. My child struggled a lot emotionally and it took a big toll on her grades and lack of confidence. When the hybrid model became an option, they allowed my child to stay after on all her in-person days to get some extra one on one help with her teacher no questions asked. The teachers at this school really care and look out for all their students best interests...Read 3 Reviews

Niche User: Friends Meeting School is a beautiful and kind place to grow up and grow into yourself as a child. The campus is lovely; the teachers are beyond dedicated; the curriculum is full and lively, with a lot of differentiated and hands on education and learning. There is a strong social justice curriculum. The small class size allows for personalized instruction and deep relationships between the students and staff. There is a great Arts program: both visual arts as well as music and drama. There is a dedicated and growing Farm. The kids love it! It is a very hands on, pragmatic learning experience. It demands and expects high levels of responsibility. There is a more limited sports program, because of the size of the school. However, the P.E. teacher( and coach) and program is well rounded and excellent. Many of the students pursue sports extracurricularly. The Quaker values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equity, and stewardship are threaded throughout the core curriculum...Read 29 Reviews

Senior: At LHS you will be introduced to such a wide varierty of economic classes to ethnicities to beliefs. I love that no matter, what we are all Lancers. We stick together as family. We treat each other as family. We leave our senior year as family. I have teachers that will stay in my "family" for the rest of my life. In addition to academics, we have a great sports program. It's such a great time at a Friday football game, a Tuesday evening soccer game or a Saturday afternoon band concert. No matter what the occasion, we are all there to cheer each other on. There are many clubs to get involved in as well! My counselor is so helpful with college readiness. If you want to move in the college direction, you can take classes at Frederick Community College as a senior. I am two steps ahead already! Oh and the food is just like Chipotle! Go Lancers! Fear the Spear!...Read 305 Reviews

Senior: It has been a very good academic experience. The classes I have taken gave me a glimpse into what college classes will be like. This will help me adjust well into college and succeed. I have found a sense of community at Middletown High School in the theatre program, where I was on the sound crew for three years and I performed in the most recent production. I truly miss the companionship that has been cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was difficult adjusting to online school, and we are still currently in a virtual format. However, I have found that this is also good preparation for college, because of the new time schedule and the format of the classes. Middletown has done a very good job of adjusting to these new circumstances while keeping the students safe and giving them the best possible education. While I will miss Middletown High School, I am eager to go to college and gain a more extensive education...Read 280 Reviews

Freshman: Honestly the academic portion of Walkerville isn’t half bad! Most teachers care for your well being and don’t overwork students. However as a young black female I can admit to facing some prejudice from the other students and wish our Jrotc program was more inclusive. The sports faculty are amazing and encourage our players to be the best they can be and strive to grow in all aspects of their/our lives. The partnership with Frederick community college gives students the opportunity to receive their associates degree at the same time they receive their high school diplomas for a really good price saving students so much time and money...Read 240 Reviews

Alum: I am an alumni of District Heights Elem. I went there from Pre-K to 6th grade and those were my best years in school. When I was going there, diversity wasn't really throughout the school. I may have been one of the 5 or 6 hispanics there but I made many friends there. I learned what I needed to know and I was also in the TAG program there. The TAG program taught me very outside of the box thinking that has helped me in my later years. Overall, District Heights was a good school. I return there regularly to keep my favorite teachers updated on the whereabouts of my education...Read 2 Reviews

Parent: I love everything about Templeton Academy! They are very supportive of my son's challenges and provide it when needed. The teachers are team players with the parents as well. The project based curriculum is awesome! It gives the students the chance to learn to work as a team and also use critical thinking skills. The class schedule is unique as well where the student will take 2 courses per semester for 10 weeks and still get all their required credits. Even though school is virtual right now, my son has met some friends. Oh and the class sizes are nice and small. Another thing I love about Templeton is how they praise the accomplishments of their students. My son is featured on their social media pages for winning 2 scholarships for being a philanthropist. I highly recommended Templeton Academy for a middle and high school choice. You won't be disappointed!...Read 25 Reviews
