Senior: My experience at Mercersburg has transformed me academically, personally, and spiritually. The faculty here are so devoted to us as students in all aspects of life here such as the dorm, in academics, and in our extracurricular endeavors. All of my teachers inspire me and challenge me to think and grow as a student. The academics are rigorous, yet all students are provided with many resources for help and support. It is really easy to get involved here and be an active participant in our community. There are so many clubs and activities where student initiative is highly encouraged. Alum: The Chambersburg Area Career Magnet School prepares students for the future and gives students a quality education. At CMS (Career Magnet School) students learn through the use of an Ipad. Using the Ipad made my experience great and it helped enhance my learning. It comes with its faults however. If the wi-fi went out then school was kind of on pause since we could not really learn or do anything on our Ipads. The teachers were always very helpful and always made sure each student understood the curriculum. Many times if I was confused the teacher helped me to understand what was being taught and helped me to excel at it. Our school made this decision due to the high number of low-income students who struggle without school as a safe haven. Senior: As a senior, I can look back on my high school experience and say that it was good! I have had very positive experiences with some very well-educated teachers that I learned from and retained information from. I have had, and have observed others having, a very positive experience with the students at CVCS. Not everyone at our Christian school is a Christian, but, for example, in the way new students are accepted into friend groups, there is evidence that our school is different from your average public school. Our school has a great program for sports, in which many students are participants. Music and art are not as popular, but I think our school does a good job making sure that those who are interested are not forgotten. For changes, I would strengthen the student-wide Christian faith in our school, as well as the individual student's love for the Lord, so that we would become an even better example of Jesus' love to other schools, other people, and our whole community.... Senior: My experience with CASHS has been overall a very positive one. Coming from a small Catholic school to a large public school like CASHS was a bit of a difficult transition. But after I started to make a solid group of friends, the rest of the year went smoothly. Something I would consider the best experience of my high school career is joining the soccer team. I made lifelong friends and it bonded me with girls that I never would have met. The soccer team helped me to meet so many people as well as making so many memories that I will remember forever. Something that I would consider the worst part of high school was my chemistry class junior year. My teacher had many problems in his personal life during the year that he taught me, which he revealed to us after the year was over. He had been having issues with his health as well as going through a divorce. He was pretty checked out all year and didn't really teach at all. Senior: While this is a very small school it has both advantages and disadvantages. Class sizes are relatively small which allows for the teachers to get to know students individually. However, some students can create disruptions which teachers cannot handle, and there are not enough outside personnel to help in those instances. Bathrooms need major updates and many do not have hot water, soap, and even paper towels. This makes it difficult to keep a clean and healthy environment within our school.
