Senior: A delicious salad bar, kind and helpful teachers, ample sports and opportunities to participate in clubs is what I like about Kingsford High School. There is something for everyone. I walked in the doors everyday knowing that I was cared for and that made me want to succeed. I felt safe, confident and comfortable being myself. The teachers will go above and beyond to help their students and the KHS Band was chosen the TOP Band in the Upper Peninsula. Playing in pep band, marching and and concert band as the second chair trumpet was an honor to me. Being a part of that environment in band and in the high school was fulfilling and rewarding. The change that could be made is that there needs to be a stop light or crossing guard to get out of the parking lot at the end of the day. It's a mess and I feel like I said "Jesus, take the wheel!" every time I exited the school parking lot! Senior: Norway High school is a great school. The staff and the students are great. The school loves their sports team and makes sure that every student that wants to go to college is ready and able too. The staff makes sure that kid is doing well in their classes and if they are having problems outside of class they try to help. Alum: I graduated from Iron Mountain High School, and there was some favoritism, especially if you played a specific sport. There are a lot of co-op teams with the neighboring school, Kingsford, because otherwise there wouldn’t be the funding or student base to support it. A lot of the facilities cater toward basketball, football, and track. If you’re in a different sport, often times you had to find your own solution to the issues you and your team faced.... Senior: The school is good in many of its core subjects, and provides a solid education, with the major exception being a shaky English program. Sports, although not the most decorated or winning-est, is a solid opportunity for students, despite the lack of variety. There are a decent amount of clubs and extracurricular activities. Senior: This is an amazing school considering that it's an alternative school. If this is the last option don't be afraid to go with it. The teachers are astounding and are willing to help with about anything. I say it's better than a regular school. You have way more options and a better chance at graduating early.
