Tinora High School
1 Best Public High Schools in Defiance County
- Northeastern Local School District (Defiance), OH
Junior: Tinora High School is a great place to learn. It has a great teaching staff who challenges the students and gets them to branch out and reach new heights. Tinora is a small school with not much diversity within its students, extra circulars, or electives. It would be nice to see Tinora offer more electives that students could take so that they would be more excited about what they are going to learn. Mostly the only electives offered are art, choir, and agriculture classes which don't spark an interest in many students. But using our facilities such as our on campus planetarium could add the elective of astronomy which could push people into a wonderful class. Other than the low amount of choices for electives, the school system is wonderful and the class sizes make the students tied together like family. The staff is always there to help the students and they always put safety above all else.

Kirov Academy of Ballet
- Private School
- Washington, DC
Works Here: I have been working at the Kirov Academy since 2017, and have found the staff & students friendly. The students are very talented, even performing for a week at the Kennedy Center in conjunction with a major company! The teaching staff, both academic and artistic are professional, run an excellent program that prepares the students well for both companies and university placement.

Hicksville High School
2 Best Public High Schools in Defiance County
- Hicksville Exempted Village School District, OH
Senior: Hicksville High School is a small, rural school where all the teachers, administrators, and support staff know you and encourage your success. My experience has been very positive in that I feel all of the classes I have taken are preparing me for success in college and beyond. Hicksville does not offer a ton of AP or college-credit classes but what they do offer are quality classes with outstanding teaching. Hicksville has high expectations of their students in the classroom, on the playing field, and beyond its doors.

Ayersville High School
3 Best Public High Schools in Defiance County
- Ayersville Local School District, OH
Senior: I really like that all of the teachers are very friendly and eager to help the students when they need it. It is a smaller school, so everybody knows everybody else, and that is both good and bad. There are a lot of opportunities to involve yourself, intellectually or physically. There are so many clubs and sports here that anyone can find something they enjoy, and there are often opportunities to start you own club. The property itself is pretty nice, we have our own pool! The whole building is K-12, and there is a new school building being built right next to it.

Fairview High School
4 Best Public High Schools in Defiance County
- Central Local School District, OH
Junior: The people here are great, teachers are all very nice people and are willing to help. Lunch is a little lackluster. I would not want to go to any other school though. Fairview is my home and although I am not the biggest fan of school, this is the best one you can go to. Go Apaches!!!

Defiance High School
- Defiance City School District, OH
Alum: In high school, I was involved in many extracurricular activities, from sports to language clubs to quiz team. This school offers many opportunities for its students and always tries its hardest to help them succeed. If the students take advantage of these opportunities, they will have no issue in finding the support necessary to create an exemplary foundation for their future endeavors. The only negative things I would have to say is that some of the material taught does not challenge the students and the meals are less than appetizing. This material tends to reinforce previous knowledge, rather than build onto it and push the boundaries of our minds. Also, the lunches are not always nutritional or as fresh as one might hope.
