Senior: I love Massey Hill Classical! I have been a student for four years and every single faculty member made me feel welcome right from the start. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants something different with their education. Massey Hill has smaller class sizes so you are able to get more individualized attention from your teachers than you would if you went to a standard high school. Massey is the home of the Pirates, and while we do not have our own sports teams with the exception of the basketball and volleyball teams who compete yearly against Reid Ross Classical in the "Classical Challenge", you are still able to participate in sports of your choice at the school whose district you live in. Very few people are unhappy at Massey because of the variety of programs, clubs, and classes that are offered each year. If you go to Massey, you will always be proud to be a Pirate.... Senior: My experience with Cross Creek Early College High School has been a long and thorough journey. One thing I can say about Cross Creek is that they are exceptional in College Readiness. Cross Creek will make sure that by time you are a senior that you are prepared to apply to colleges, get scholarships, and be in college after graduation. You spend time taking multiple high school courses that are honors and through a partnership with Fayetteville State University take college courses as well. All so that when a student is graduated they have college credits that are enough to be a junior in college. Overall I am glad that I attended Cross Creek for all four years of high school because I have gained so much. Parent: We absolutely love VCA. The staff and teachers are truly committed to their students, providing the best possible education, and sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Our daughters are greeted by name by every adult in the building, which shows me how much the school values relationships. My younger daughter has some speech challenges, and her teachers are so accommodating and communicative, and are focused on finding learning techniques that work best for her specific needs. Senior: JBHS is very supportive - the teachers, counselors, and administrators all work hard to connect students to what they need, but the student needs to reach out first. It is a large school, thirty students in a class is not surprising, especially in a standard class. There are some teachers that are given a wide breadth, but the majority are either neutral towards students or love teaching. The classes themselves are a mix of interesting, have to self-study, or both. Most classes have transferred work to an online setting, but some require the use of textbooks that are issued to you. There are eight student bathrooms on each floor (two to a hall, one for male, the other female) and there are two floors. However, at least one bathroom is always out of commission because of stunts pulled by students. The water fountains used to taste like it chlorine dumped in it, but newer fountains have been installed for some halls. There are fights that happen sporadically, but they are taken care of.... Junior: Berean is a great school for anyone that wants to learn in a safe, Christian environment. Senior: I’ll start with the bad and end with the good. Cape fear high school had its moments with racism. I also did not like that upper class men couldn’t check out for lunch like many high schools allow. A lot of the teachers felt taken advantage of and not appreciated. I also didn’t like that we couldn’t use the library. The bathrooms were dirty and never had toilet paper or paper towels. Now the good things, I loved all of my teachers. I loved the plays we always performed there, and the fact that they are actually educational, and I enjoyed them.
