Senior: I love the education opportunities we have at Chatham including being one of the only schools in the area with an Orchestra and our variety of clubs makes for a lot of possibilities. My teachers are very willing to stay after and put in extra effort to help us. However, the safety/maintenance of the school is not great. Last year, we lost power numerous times, our school flooded, and this year our PA system was broken. In the case of a lockdown, nobody would know to take cover. Senior: I had a great experience with this school. Many of the teachers are part of the community of the district, and are very dedicated to both their teachings and their students. Almost all teachers and staff will try to get to know you both inside and outside of the classroom, and they make academics both challenging and rewarding for each student. I was well prepared for all AP and state exams, and I scored very highly on each. You will get out what you put into this school. Alum: New Lebanon Junior/Senior High School has had its high and lows. The best things about the school is how big the sport programs are and how popular and known the music department is. How close the teachers are to the students and how the teachers like to teach around the children not the required curriculum by the state. The lows would be that the class sizes are too small everybody knows everybody. Along with the lack of selection of course electives. I would like to see change in diversity of electives.... Parent: Mountain Road School is different, and it is obvious from the first moment you step foot on the school grounds. It's a small school, only around 50 students from pre-k through 8th grade enrolled at any one time, and it's a true gem of a school. To say it's just a community is not really true... it's more of a family. Every student knows and cares about each other, and perhaps the true magic is watching the children interact with each other on the playground and in class. They honestly care for each other and are aware of each other's feelings- something that's somehow missing in our over-tech'd world of today. They spend more time being children... playing in the beautiful woods surrounding the school, taking part in nature classes, and having extended recess periods. Someone who might be looking for a school off the beaten path that provides a great education in addition to fostering an appreciation for nature and human connection is looking for Mountain Road School....
