Senior: Elite Scholars Academy is a charter school located in Jonesboro, Georgia. I have been at Elite Scholars Academy since sixth grade, and I am now a senior. I felt like the school really pushed its other students and I academically in order to prepare us for college. There is just an atmosphere to excel and do better. The school focuses a lot of academics that sports and clubs kind of get side-lined, which I think is not the best. COVID-19 has also made school a little more tiresome because nobody really wants to do virtual school, both teachers and students. However, I do enjoy the face-to-face portions. I also feel like the seniors get the short-end of the stick because of the pandemic and we aren't really able to celebrate our last year of highschool to the fullest, which sucks. Senior: I was the new kid when I first came to Martha Ellen Stilwell. I came in as a Junior which normally is not allowed however, they let me in and I enjoyed my time there. I loved the students and teachers. They made me feel very welcomed, and they always had faith in me. They taught me so many things I can take with me in life. They really paid attention to their students. Something I wish I could change about the school is the diversity, I think diversity is very important but we did not really have it at the school. I also wish we could change the way some of the teachers taught, sometimes the other kids don't understand as fast and there should be a way for the students to learn something with a different technique. Middle School Student: I love M. D. Roberts so much. They have not only helped me become a better person in life and interact with multiple races, but challenge me and help me remember lot's of things. This school taught me so well and help me articulate myself so much, that I'm now going to my dream high school I had to audition for, which is Martha Ellen Stillwell School of the arts, one of the best schools in Georgia. Middle School Student: I haven't been to that school in about 2 years, but from my experience I'd say it's a Great school! I was there for about 6 years and I had so much fun and learned a lot from that school! I was also in the S.C.O.R.E program that really helped me out now in Middle School! There were also little clubs/Programs that were fun such as the Reading Bowl or the Beta Club or even the Art Club and others! Of course like all other schools there are some flaws like the Food or the Bathrooms but other than that the School is Amazing! Parent: McGarrah Elementary is a very good school with great Teachers. I have 2 children that attend McGarrah (2nd + 5th grades) and they have been honor roll students all years. Sophomore: I love Jonesboro High School! I had the option to attend two other high schools in the district, but I chose this one because I liked that they had a phenomenal marching band of which I am a part of, and I was interested in the Political Science Magnet Program of which I am also in. They also have a diverse group of extracurricular activities that many students can participate in as well as being academically sound, whether it’s sports or otherwise. There is something for every student. Academically, I have had some great teachers. I have also taken a prep SAT class which was offered on Saturdays for 6 weeks. I feel like Jonesboro High School had provided me with a lot of positive resources that has encouraged me to be a more successful student. Band has also been a great influence on my artistic ability as a snare drummer. We traveled to perform when I was a freshman to Chicago, Alabama, Tennessee and all over Georgia. Junior: Morrow Highschool is a school that isn't perfect, but isn't bad either. It contains teachers that are willing to teach and give their all to support their students and their future. It is a place where I met many friends and the people I can call my rivals for the future. There are many things that my school could improve on, such as the educational system, security, and classroom items that would make the learning experience better. Yet, all in all, I love the teachers I have and the things I learn there. I am grateful for the amazing teachers I have and the awesome classmates I have to rely on. Senior: My experience at Forest Park High School has been decent overall. Due to its location, it is an ethnically diverse school full of students and staff with many different backgrounds and beliefs. The majority of students and faculty at this school identify as people of color. This student offers a multitude of clubs, resources, and events for students to indulge in. There are frequent assemblies to celebrate different cultures and academic achievements in the school. Most teachers are kind and intelligent. They try their best to keep students engaged in the classroom. Teachers and staff are supportive and uplifting. Of course, like many schools, this one has its downsides, but the main downsides here are because of the people within this school. Alum: Overall, it was a better than average high school experience. I had teachers who actually cared and were optimistic and excited about my future endeavors/goals. Most also provided a listening ear when things were rough. They also taught real word skills. Senior: Drew is a wonderful school, and overall I've had the best experience ever. We have plenty of resources and offer free SAT testing. We have a college ambassador( only school in the county who does)who helps get people into college and give you everything you need for when you graduate high school. Weather you wanna go to college, the military or even just work after high school. We have job and college fairs and even have college visits. At drew, the teachers aren't just teachers who talking about "school" , they keep it real and actually talk about the real word and get you prepared and ready to be on your own and how to be successful. We are busy at Drew and there's so much help. You will never feel alone or lost. Yes, we have tons of fun but at the same time we are all about education!
