Senior: West Shore has been a six year long experience because it integrates middle and high school. Being integrated has the benefit of being able to take more advanced classes, seniority guidance, and a comfortable transition each grade! However, it also means younger grades are underrepresented and makes it feel more prioritized to older grades, and is very awkward to be the younger students as there is a big age gap between students. Overall, the school is very academically driven, so this means the school has a lot more homework. The school also restricts duel enrollment which is disappointing, but has a hard focus on AP classes. Teachers have been mostly top tier giving me a great education. On another hand, all sports, except soccer, are underfunded and often require student efforts for them to work out! Alum: I am so grateful for the teachers and staff at Edgewood. They truly care about their students, and each other, and give the school a family environment. My freshman year is when we got shut down by the pandemic, and although my sophomore year was a little rocky, I was blessed to have fantastic junior and senior years. The teachers really made a difference in my school experiences. I feel that if the administration continues to keep that family environment that supports and uplifts, it'll continue to be a great experience for those who attend Edgewood. Parent: We love our Holy Trinity experience so far! We have a 8th grader and a 10th grader. They both came from a homeschooling background so it was an adjustment for them. The school worked with us both socially and academically to help find the right level for each student. As far as the social aspect, they assigned an ambassador for each of them when they started there to help them feel comfortable asking any questions they had and just having someone to sit with at lunch. The teachers are personally invested in our kids as well. They take the time to draft emails to us communicating any kudos or areas we can help our students. Junior: The best parts about Melbourne Central Catholic is that it strives to challenge students through various rigorous academic courses including multiple AP and Dual enrollment courses with our neighboring sister school, Florida Institute of Technology. However, despite these benefits, Melbourne Central Catholic limits the amount of flexibility and free time students have around campus to meet state requirements. Moreover, students are liable to be written up on any behavioral fraction that may seem small, but will cost students several demerits that inches them closer to detention, suspension, or even expulsion. One major example that has been crippling students as of late is late attendance in the morning. Alum: Good college experience as a boarding student. Not a wide variety of courses offered sadly but to be expected with such a small population. If you are an athlete specifically basketball then this a great school in order to be scouted. Culture is great as their students that come from all over the world which is an experience that even most colleges can’t compare. Im order to graduate you must be accepted into a college which forces you to think about your future, although getting into a community college will suffice. If you are local in Florida and do want to go home on weekends to spend time with family be advised you’ll spend most of the weekend on the road which is was not worth it for me. Since I have been there the owner has changed so not sure how school is runes today but when I was there administration singled me out so be sure that your child stays off their radar. Junior: Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School has given me the opportunity to create a relationship with my teachers and peers that I can hold onto for the rest of my life! The teachers and faculty that I met while attending CBHS did everything they could to ensure our safety and prepare us for our bet possible futures. CBHS offers International Baccalaureate classes , which is a great way to challenge your academic abilities and further your chances of acceptance to a university. From my personal experience at CBHS I can 100% these are the best years of my life. One thing I would like students and administration t take more action in is, advancing our sports, clubs, and activities. It felt like students took CBHS sports as a joke and didn't want to participate because they were worried about other schools opinions, but sports and clubs are a big factor of the high schools experience.... Parent: Parkhurst Administration and staff is incredibly dedicated and put their whole hearts into investing into the students and families at our school. Going above and beyond is the norm, and students are truly loved. They are committed to helping students grow as a whole person - academically, emotionally, and spiritually. The integration of a wide variety of learning styles and ability levels makes Parkhurst Academy unique and exceptional. As a parent I am so grateful that mental health and faith based resources are readily available. My children are also excelling academically, and I would not want them anywhere else. Alum: As a current alum, I attended PCCA for the past 7 years. I had amazing experiences overall with my teachers and the academics provided. The only complaint was that there wasn’t many opportunities for electives, sports, or even the option to dual enroll earlier, delaying me from receiving my AA degree. Senior: This school fosters a genuine relationship with Christ in each of its students. The small-school culture promotes closeness in the classes. Although, new students may struggle to fit in due to already firmly established friend groups. Senior year brings many events and activities to fellowship. High school retreat is a great time to grow closer to friends and, most importantly, to Jesus. Bible class and Chapel are genuine and authentic. All seniors take Apologetics and Ethics to prepare for life after high school. Drama and music are a key part of the school’s culture. This past year they performed “Newsies.” Many students attend FBCMI’s(First Baptist Church of Merritt Island)youth group: Firehouse. This youth group fulfills the mission of making disciples. Parent: We are entering our 4th year here and we love it. Our school may not have some things that other schools have like sports teams or a big gymnasium, but we have excellent teachers and office staff. They truly care for our kiddos and their education. There will always be a special teacher that especially touches your heart and we have had several here at WMSS. We have had some teachers move or some office staff retire, but it doesn't deter from the excellence this school provides. We are a family. We support each other. Senior: As a student from CCA, this school is filled with excellence. Each day is devoted to prayer and the focus to the student's academics. It is much like having a large family when attending. The teacher's and staff are excellent at what they do. Academics and college readiness are very important factors to this school's society. Senior: Something I really appreciate about Rockledge high school is the amount of different types of electives they offer. There's something for everyone! There are electives geared towards trade schools like auto mechanics, electives geared towards college preparedness like AVID, and electives geared toward careers like 911 telecommunications. Parent: Viera Charter School is a premiere elementary and middle school! As a parent, I cannot say enough great things about the teachers. They really care about their students' education and well being. We are a military family, and we feel that VCS is truly a village and everyone is watching out for all our children. Apart from the fantastic teachers, the admin works tirelessly to bring the best possible curriculum to the school. We have programs in place such as AVID and Cambridge, that make the school's learning environment so successful. Viera Charter also has a great School Resource Office, who goes above and beyond for the kids there. There is also a great amount of clubs and sports, for all ages! We are very fortunate to live in a district with such wonderful schools and teachers. But, I think VCS is just above the rest with their teachers, curriculum, and activities for all grades. Parent: Our both kids (1st and 3rd grade) simply love going to Quest. Since the K level they both have had amazing and carrying teachers. The school is strong academically but not overwhelming to the point of taking away the fun from childhood. In the last years, overcrowding seems to become the issue with Viera area growing rapidly.
