Freshman: I've been here since the seventh grade. I'm gonna be totally honest, it's an incredibly expensive school and my family is a high donor. Unlike in my previous school, teachers are connected. It's not one of those seemingly universalized experiences where its 50/50 about teachers caring. More like 80/20, and that 20 still have their charms. Though the student body are what really pulls it together. The makeup of the school is split down the middle between preppy party kids (that have their qualities) and the other half of the nicest, most motivated kids you'll ever meet. Though its middle/high school. There's drama. Its not always fun. The administration has some fundamental flaws. In that it seems as though they care more about their endowment then their students. Facilities is slow to accommodate, still no NB bathrooms, nor gym accommodations, nor trans accessible binaried bathrooms. Anyhow I love my school 8.4/10!... Read 69 reviews

Parent: My daughter is studying at this school. The school is wonderful and my daughter has loved it. She is in an amazing, academically rich environment with passionate teacher and students who share the same goals. Not only do the students receive specialized classes in the areas of their interest (machine building, pharmacology, advanced Java script, conducting, etc.), but they also get exposed to activities outside their academies through electives, clubs (ex. Junior: Great magnet school with amazing teachers! Expect a challenging curriculum that prepares you for college. BT offers a unique proposition to deep dive into a technical major as a high school student. I can vouch for the excellence of the Law and Justice major with 7 pre-law courses including Constitutional Law, Criminology, and Introduction to the Analysis of Public Policy, all taught by two seasoned top-notch teachers. Alum: Bergen Catholic provided me with an excellent education which enabled me to get admitted to six of the best engineering schools in the country. That is reason enough to be thankful for having gone there. But it is also a lifetime experience. Bergen Catholic graduates have leadership roles in many diverse areas and there is always a special bond when you meet another BC alum. And like a family, Bergen Catholic provides many opportunities for alumni to come back to the school not only to meet old friends but also to give back. There are opportunities for mentoring current students as well as young graduates seeking advice on their careers. Finally, BC has excellent athletic programs both for students and for alums who use them as get togethers with fellow alums. I am part of a network that exchanges news of Bergen Catholic sports teams with fellow alums across the country. And those of us who no longer live in Bergen County can now stream the football games! Alum: Tenafly High School was an awesome place to attend high school. Yes, we can be kinda cliquey and yes, some of us did drive fancier cars than some of the teachers and staff, but the education I received out of this place and all the friends I had here really have been outstanding. I had a few average teachers and one below average, but most of the teachers here are outstanding at what they do and you really gain a lot out of your education here whether you are a CPB (college prep equivalent), CPA (honors equivalent), Honors (high honors equivalent), or AP student. Alum: My four years at DBP were the four best of my life! Everything I have been able to achieve academically and in business is due to the experience I had at Don Bosco Prep. Not only is it quite challenging academically, the tradition and the student life are excellent. The campus looks more like a beautiful small college than it does a high school. After you graduate, you find college and graduate school much easier since you have been taught how to study and budget your time. You form friendships which last a lifetime. Alum: I loved my time at Northern Highlands and if I could go back I would! Some of the teachers there inspired me to further myself and to take the direction I am taking now! If I could change two things within Northern Highlands that could have greatly benefited me in College/University would be removing the pointless Technology class taken Freshman year that you will 100% forget everything you learned in class the moment you leave for summer and replacing it with a Life Skills class (how to pump gas (NJ kids), how to pay taxes, how to write a check, how to change a tire, how to jumpstart a car, self-defense, CPR, ways to help with mental health (techniques), etc.). The second thing I would change would be your senior year (I mean mine was the transition from COVID-19) but I do think that if students were given a more college-like experience to get students ready for how college school schedules are like.... Senior: I loved the school so much. I have had such a good experience there and wish it wasn't coming to an end so soon. Honestly the most stark comparison I have seen made by many transfer students to Ridgewood is the rigor and college readiness. Senior: NVOT is overall a good school. The time I've spent here was well-supported by the friends I've made, and all things said, it's a good environment. The worst issue with this school is probably how the administration handles funding for extracurricular activities. This year, almost half of our clubs were cut because the budget didn't allow for many teachers to get paid to run those clubs. Also, administration can be slow to correct complaints students have with teachers. But that's relatively minor in comparison to everything else NVOT offers. Junior: I love the inclusivity and how open everyone is. Anyone could feel at home here with all the commodities and an interesting student body. As an Asian American, there is a lot of representation within the school and I feel very well-connected and safe. The education aspect is also very diverse and more teachers are always welcome to help students when asked. The student-to-teacher ratio is very small which is good because it makes it easy to get your questions answered and your voice heard. Something I would change would be the food system that we have. I feel that we need better and healthier options that are more enjoyable for the students. Most people end up eating unhealthy foods because the healthy options are not as well thought out and put together. Senior: I love my experience at the frisch school. During vacations and breaks, I just look forward to coming back. The atmosphere in the school is focused solely around kindness and inclusivity, and the teachers are accommodating. Most, if not all, students at frisch have healthy, close, relationships with their teachers, and most of whom go out of their ways to help their students. Parent: All of the things we got from SH Memorial school is super. My child was transferred from another school to SH Memorial school and the way the school administration gives preliminary information, how they process it and do their best to expediate the whole required step for the child to resume school ASAP is amazingly super. The way the teachers welcome new students and their methods of familiarizing the newcomer with the existing students is also amazing. The academic part is also a 5-star rated quality, their teaching method, their assessment and their motivation are excellent. Nothing to add or see changed their rather to see everything as it is.... Middle school student: There are Many things to say about this school. I am a current eight grader right now and I love this school in general. There are times where the work gets piled on top of you. Teachers give you lots of work but in general they all very much care about you. This enviornment makes kids want to learn and get better grades. The teachers encouage the students and even though some are strict, they al genuinley care about the students. The education is really good. Again, even though the students get work piled on top of them, the teaching is phemonenal. I learned way more and grew more as a student when I joined this school as to when i attended a private school. This school will and does encourage each student to get the best grades. The population is low and there are not many students so there isn't as much band, plays, sports to judge based off of what I can tell but the teachers encourage the students to do extra-curriculars as well.
