Senior: I have attended Madison Country Day School from kindergarten through senior year. Because of the size and environment of the school, I feel very close to my classmates and community; they're like my second family! The small size has also allowed me a lot of flexibility regarding enrichment, course/subject advancement, and specialized learning tracks. However, while the school does provide limited support services, the student body sometimes acts as a resonating chamber for negativity, stress, and poor mental health, especially in the upper grades.

Niche User: In my time at Renaissance I noticed there was a bit of a bias towards certain arts, i.e. more photography and drawing classes than dance, writing, or music (especially instrumental). If you're planning on attending Renaissance for arts that aren't in high demand with a high percentage of other students, then expect your class choices to be few and boring. The block scheduling is a great concept, but makes for awful conflicts when a class you really want to take is only offered during an academic class you're required to take. The academic classes through Renaissance (social studies and English) is nice because you only have to take them once or twice per week, but compared to traditional "same-class-every-day" scheduling, you definitely don't get the same kind of education. In a once a week humanities class, you won't learn what you could in an every day world history class.

Parent: I moved from Las Vegas, NV to Madison, WI. My daughter attended a magnet school that offered dance as a major of study in Nevada. Unfortunately, there are no high schools in the city of Madison that offered a magnet art school. Her former high school dance coordinator and teacher at her school in Las Vegas, NV graduated from MHSA. It was a blessing that my child was able to be taught by a former student of MHSA. I have no regrets driving 1 hour and 30 minutes five days a week. My daughter took AP courses during her time at the school and she excelled in her studies. She graduated in her junior year with a 3.75 GPA and she's attending the University of The Arts in Philadelphia. This school prepared her for her next God willing journey. Jesus is good!

Senior: I love Youth Initiative because it strives to help students find their voices and think for themselves. We spend a lot of time doing service work, both within the school and in the wider community. This year I have spent over 30 hours helping set up and prepare for school events, working on fundraisers, and even traveling to Florida to dive and restore reefs in the Key Largo coral nursery as part of a senior project. Something that I both appreciate and am challenged by is the small size of my school. There are only about 60 students enrolled at any given time. What I like about this is that you get to know everyone pretty well and we often describe ourselves as being one big family. But like any family, it's not all perfect and sometimes it can be hard to step back and take a break from all of the attention. Nothing you do gets lost in such a small pool of students.

Senior: I have been attending Eastbrook Academy for 7 years and this is a truly remarkable school! The academics are challenging and above average. The teachers also challenge each student to become their best self academically and professionally. Although there are not many clubs or sports, the many aspects such as the family oriented atmostsphere is hard to find anywhere else. During my last year it was remarkable to see the changes the Eastbrook made, especially those that students requested. Overall, Eastbrook Academy a unique school full of diversity, family, leaders, and hard working faculty and students.

Works Here: Shoreland is a family! Teachers care about students both academically and spiritually! I strive to tailor my class to suite students needs now and later in college or the workplace. My students report back that in their college classes they speak more Spanish than any of the other students in their class. My students test far into their college's Spanish program and can often take one class, finish with a B- or better and earn retro credits which gets them a Spanish minor or close to one. Degrees in Spanish can equal major bumps in salaries, not to mention a marketable item to put on a resume. I love my area of study, but all of this pales in comparison to the joy of sharing God's Word and love with my students! This is the true peace!
