The Madeira School
- Private School
- McLean, VA
Alum: When I picture my "happy place," Madeira is it! I credit the school with shaping me into the woman I am today. I was able to be the truest version of myself while I attended Madeira. I was challenged academically, but in an environment where I felt comfortable to excel. The friends I made at Madeira have been lifelong friends--some were even bridesmaids in my wedding. The co-curriculum experience is also monumental. The internships I had as a junior and senior in high school shaped my college studies and eventual career path. If I had a daughter, without a shadow of a doubt, she would be a Madeira girl.

Junior: Choosing to go to ACPA was probably then best decision of my high school career. I have been able to grow so much not only as a student but a human being. The diversity at ACPA exposed me to so many different people and has allowed me to have a further understanding and apperciation for the world around me. Acpa has provided me with every opportunity that I could wish for in a high school. The teachers and staff are probably my favorite part about the school. From each of my teachers I have seen not only a passion for teaching and their students, but also a passion for the subject they are teaching. This excitement only incited more excitement in me to learn from them!

School for Creative & Performance Arts High School
2 Best High Schools for the Arts in Ohio
- Cincinnati City School District, OH
- PK, K-12
Senior: The School for Creative and Performing Arts is a very diverse school full of different ethnic and religious backgrounds. The relationships and social life at the school is pretty mild, meaning there is really no bullying , and there is a good chance you will make a few friends. The school year is full of great productions and performances that you will not be able to see at any other school. As in terms of academics and college readiness, I do feel that I am not prepared for college rather than going to a typical college preparatory school. The average ranking in class ACT'S and GPA's are just about average. It is hard to avoid involvement and volunteering at Performing Arts. There are many different clubs and ensembles to join. Safety at Performing Arts is very important because of the school's location in downtown Over-The-Rhine.

Senior: Toledo School for the Arts is unique place, very different from any other public school. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming to all, even the lunch room staff and janitors. The education of the arts are what most students enjoy here, and it is no doubt that they are becoming well educated artists within this building. However, something that may shock people is how well this school exceeds in academics as well. You get the best of both worlds at TSA. From the catchy tunes playing in the halls during class changes to the dance battles in the cafeteria, Toledo School for the Arts is full of excitement and acceptance.

Montessori High School

Parent: Truly a remarkable education. Two of my children attended. I can honestly say as one "behind the scenes" ( one of the involved parents), I saw the teachers' genuine, enthusiastic dedication to the development of each and every child's well-being. The Montessori method is not just for younger kids, and this high school is not an academic cakewalk or a free-for--all. It is a challenging and supportive place to transition into young adulthood. There is an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, which, along with Montessori, is designed to produce thoughtful, knowledgeable global citizens. The students are accepting and warm. Best of all, the school takes advantage of being in the heart of University Circle, where the museums are considered a part of the school campus. The Museum of Art, History Center, Natural History Museum, Botanical Gardens and CWRU's library are all within a short walking distance. Check it out in person.
