Sophomore: Almost all of the teachers are amazing and incredibly understanding. Although the lack accessibility for disabled students is disappointing and the culture can be polarizing if you aren’t willing to be friends with EVERYONE, but the resources are great if you’re interested in the film industry (their other programs are sorely lacking).... Senior: The Academy for Technology and the Classics is an incredible school. It is fairly demanding in terms of homework as most high schoolers are highly recommended to take around 7 AP classes throughout their high school years. ATC unfortunately does not offer many sports (only cross country, track, basketball, soccer, and esports), electives, or extra-curriculars, but makes up for it with a great environment. It has a very unique campus as most hallways are outdoors. The smaller class sizes make it much easier to have more connections and grow closer with the whole class. Senior: Public Academy for Performing Arts is a great place to pursue your desired performing art whether it is music, choir, dance, film, art or theatre. Getting college prep education from middle school to high school surrounded by students with the same admiration for the arts creates a beautiful, friendly, and creative environment and makes education less overwhelming. In my experience, the best part of this school is the opportunities to discover your true passion and commiting to be the highest standard in that field. I would say the worst parts of my experience would be the lack of funding we had in each program. This held me back from reaching the true potential of each performing art. I also felt our building was to small to hold both middle school and high school students. Overall Public Academy for Performing Arts prepared me for college and the life of a professional artist.... Senior: My experience at Aldo Leopold charter school has been, more than anything, wonderfully eye opening. As first public school I had attended after homeschool and a small private school, it was an excellent way to integrate myself into academics, community, and the world of environmentalism. There are very few complaints I have from my time here, however, being a small school, there is naturally a lack of of extracurricular opportunities other than a few unofficial clubs. This is also partly due to the lack of state funding, but I do think that there could be more effort put into organization and communication. There have been important announcements regarding trips or events that were missed due to lack of communication, as well as miscommunications about rules and regulations which have resulted in unnecessary write ups or detentions.
