Alum: I was one of the first students in the Journeys School and I found it to be a great place to learn. It challenged me, forced me to think critically, and gave me opportunities I wouldn't have been able to find in any another school. Because of the high teacher to student ratio, I was able to receive a personalized education that helped me to address some of the areas I was weaker in, while encouraging my interests. In addition, Journeys School helped me to make life long friends in both the faculty and students. I also give Journeys School a lot of credit with my success in both undergrad, and graduate school. Senior: Laramie High School offers high quality education in a range of basic subjects which prepare students for the educational challenges approaching in post-secondary life. Counselors and teachers are readily available and care about their students and it certainly shows as they show up early in the mornings and stay later in the evenings to provide any help! Student culture as well as diversity among students is very limited in the sense that the town of Laramie is very tight knit and is rarely exposed to people outside of their own community. This is evident in the classroom and outside of class when students are unfortunately very unaware of other ethnic, religious, and racial lifestyles which leads to a strong clique mentality which many students fall into. Sophomore: I love my school! Although it is relatively small compared to the vast majority of high schools in the nation, I have never felt that there is a lack of opportunity. I am able to be heavily involved in multiple clubs, and because of the small numbers, participation in school sports is highly encouraged and much more obtainable as opposed to bigger schools with more competition. The teachers, coaches, and staff are spectacular and I am always able to find help and support whether I go searching or not. My classmates compete academically, pushing me to become a better student and person, and encouraging me to go the extra mile with every little thing. Everyone is close and friendly because at such a small school we are all friends, which leads to the best learning experience I could ask for. Senior: Pinedale High School is a great school to attend. All teachers are ready to help students not only in their subject, but also in preparing them for life. Teachers offer great help with work and can bring any students knowledge to the next level. Some of the most important classes I have taken or that I will take/I am taking right now include Test Prep, Band, Finance, Economics, and Government. Senior: I absolutely love it in Encampment K-12 School! Due to the low population within the town and the school, it allows the staff to be very helpful towards students. They do a tremendous job whether its a teacher, nurse, principal, or counselor, they give very good 1 on 1 help 24/7. No student is left behind which is one reason we have the best test scores in entire State of Wyoming (Of course we have an advantage with only having 40 students enrolled within the high school). With it being such a small school, the extra-curricular opportunities honestly aren't that limited considering we offer 3 sports in the fall, 1 sport in the winter, and 1 sport in the spring plus we have a FFA team along with an FCCLA team. Senior: Kelly Walsh High School is a phenomenal place to earn a high school diploma. There is a huge focus placed on the four pillars of the school: Academics, Acceptance, Activities, Athletics. There are a ton of classes available to students. There’s multiple foreign languages, extremely well funded CTE and music departments, and multiple levels for need based classes. Acceptance is a huge deal too! Rodstock is a music festival put on once a year by the school, where anyone who wants to share their talent of performance can. Even if someone may not have the best performance, they receive immense praise from the student body. There are tons of clubs also. If a student doesn’t have a club that suits them, they are able to easily create one. All they need is a faculty member to help them get started. Possibilities are endless! Senior: Sundance secondary school is a neat little high school nestled in the the small Crook county town of, where else, Sundance. First things first, there is no denying that the school is small. With around only 300 students in total and my class of thirty being one of the largest, is a very close knit class environment. Often this is reinforced by a very active sports program. Now, due to the school size there aren't any try-outs for any of the teams and anyone can apply them themselves to a sport. Wrestling, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, all programs full of spirit and intensity. There is a very active FFA program and shop and welding classes are supplied with brand new and advanced equipment. Teachers are incredibly lax, of course exception being when one is blatantly disrespectful. The music program has been revitalized and, of course with Wyoming being a center of thespian activity, the school has a limited but active drama program. I wouldn't go anywhere else.... Senior: East High School as a whole is a very good school. The students, teachers, and staff have positive attitudes daily, are always encouraging one another and help to take care of the school as a whole. Every school has their ups and downs but east seems to have everything under control. East High School has some of the highest test scores in the state and some of the best sports programs and coaches. One thing that I would like to see change within the east high community and the Laramie County School district over all is how students in other programs are seen though out the school. There is a lot of recognition for those who are in sports but not a lot for those students in band, choir, orchestra, and other clubs like ffa, fccla, fbla, DECA, and so many more. Senior: High school for me has been a mix of emotions! It’s definitely been a crazy ride! I have worked at a pizza place named Pizza on the Run! I have also been involved in NHS and FCCLA. I have done volleyball and cheer for two years and dance for three. I have kept my grades high while also keeping up my social life! I love being with my friends and my family! My mom and I have a tradition to watch Big Brother, Survivor and American Idol together. As you can see we love reality TV shows. I love being out in nature and enjoying the world. School has given me an opportunity to put myself out their. I have met so many different types of people. I love meeting new people with very different backgrounds from me. Senior: Kemmerer has been a very interesting experience. I have been in all the shop classes, and the teachers are amazing. There building is excellent, because the building is at least 5 years old. The school administration has helped us as students the be able to give us the things that we need in the class rooms to help us thrive as students. The school is super safe.
