Junior: Throughout my years as a student I have been to private, public, magnet, and online schools, but none of those experiences compare to the DA online campus. When I first joined Davidson I was worried. I had been to two other schools just the year before (one magnet and one public) and neither had worked. Not to mention my online school experience was very small as I had only taken a few asynchronous online classes before. But at Davidson, the live sessions were stimulating and engaging, the teachers were invested in my learning, the work was actually interesting, and my peers were amazing! I’ve made strong friendships and connections throughout my two years. Davidson has helped be become a successful student too. I’d always had trouble taking notes, planning, and studying but DAO has let me create my own strategies for each! The school is meant for gifted kids and it shows in everything they do. Parent: The Meadows School is exceptional. I remember the first time I toured the campus I was overwhelmed with the thought, “This is how education should be. Why can’t all schools be like this?” The faculty holds high expectations while providing rigorous and engaging lessons that hone critical thinking skills and fosters productive citizenship. The school offers students an array of academic and extracurricular opportunities and the school community is the best I have witnessed. Senior: Sage Ridge School offers small class sizes and excellent teachers, allowing for a very personal experience. All teachers are willing to help you at any time because they care more about your understanding of the teachings and your education in general than your grade. Along with the academic side, Sage Ridge offers multiple sports for each season in the year. And because of the smaller student body, everyone has the ability to play on any team they want. The coaches are all outside of school coaches that still play an integral role in the school and the students lives. Alum: A big thing that I liked about Coral Academy of Science was that it was a smaller school overall. So the classroom size was much smaller, allowing the teachers to be more engaged with the students and teach them better. I enjoyed playing on the sports teams all four years of high school. The school makes every students education important and doesn't seem to "forget" about a student or disregard them. They want us all to succeed. On the flip side, I would like a larger campus, the halls get crowded at times. Funding would also be nice to improve the campus facilities and equipment. Senior: Out of the 217 high schools listed in Nevada, it is ranked 11th. The school contains many credit classes through truckee community college and other sights that help students prepare for college, especially our local university or Reno. The school also contains qualified teachers with classes such as APs and STEM electives that prepare students. Senior: Coral academy of science Las Vegas is the best charter school I have ever seen and experienced. Coral academy prayers students for higher and challenging corses. It gets its students ready and prepared for college. If you would rate this school it will be 9.5 out of 10. There is nothing about the Academic stuff that I would like to change. The school is doing fantastic in the academic. However, I would like them on PE class not to take the students out of campus to go and do their activities at the park across the street. I feel that it’s not safe for students. Second thing is that as you all know the school shoring rate across the United States of America is so haigh. Coral academy fence around the school is law. Parent: I am thrilled with what Adelson is doing for our kids. We have three kids there, and each of them is learning at a very comfortable pace, socializing very well, and there are many athletics opportunities. What I especially love is there is no "woke" teaching. The emphasis is on math, English, a positive outlook on American history, and related matters that are essential for a child's development and preparation for the real world. We moved from Los Angeles, where we had some degree of strange teaching/education, and that is just not present here. We don't have to worry about that. And the administrators are warm, welcoming, and very easy to talk with! Finally, the classroom sizes are smaller, and much more attention is focused on the children. We are very blessed to have found Adelson. if there's one thing I would like to see changed (only because the prompt suggests I answer that) is perhaps a better emphasis on athletics, but even that is pretty good. Senior: Bishop Manogue offered me a lot of opportunities to challenge myself. I participated in the Kairos retreat program as a student and a leader, Miner Ministry, the Minor Men(torship) program, I was part of the Northern Region Champion Football team and I was selected by the football coaching staff for the "Miner" Award for excellence, awarded to only two players on the team. I challenged myself with difficult math courses and I am part of the Miner TV team, broadcasting short videos and news through the school, daily. Sophomore: Overall, I have found Reno High to be a fantastic experience! The open campus is quite nice, and there are many activities available to students. It seems to me that there is something for everyone! There are clubs of all different natures, as well as sports and other activities relating to the arts and technology. My academic experience has also been great. The staff truly cares for their students and apart from 1 unhelpful teacher, all of my teachers have helped me to effectively understand the subject matter that I am learning. Most of the student body is friendly, though there are some rude kids (but all schools have them). Personally, I haven't had any problems with my peers and I feel relatively safe at school. Though our facility might not be the prettiest with its yellow-tiled walls, there are decent classrooms and quality sports facilities offered here. Junior: One of the best schools in Washoe county, AACT is usually rated as the top 1-3 schools in Reno. It is a technical and CTE school which does plenty of college preparation from courses to internships and community service . It has students from all over the county, providing a diverse community who is motivated and looking forward to graduate. The graduation rate since the school has opened is over 98%. Niche User: Sierra Lutheran is an amazing school! The school really feels like a family! The teachers and the students were all my best friends. Alum: My experience at McQueen could be described as nothing less than exciting. The energy that came from the stands during a game, or the endless support coming from multiple teachers, and the positive learning environment that allowed me to thrive and eventually go on to pursue a college education set me up for a positive future. A variety of of clubs and sports were offered to me throughout my four years of high school and allowed many students and I an opportunity to find a sense of belonging. Senior: One of my favourite things about Coronado High was all the different classes I could take. There was something for everyone – from honours and advanced placement courses to vocational classes, and electives like photography, journalism and music production. It was also nice to see how many resources the school provided for students who needed extra help. Whether it was through tutoring, after-school programs, or even special support in specific classes, Coronado High School made sure that no student felt left out. Although my experiences at Coronado High were mostly positive, there is always room for improvement. Senior: I liked that Damonte has the Performing Arts program that it does. I felt very lucky to have such amazing access to top-notch performing arts facilities and hobbies to pursue my musical interests/hobbies. I also really liked the math program at Damonte and always felt like my teachers were incredibly competent and talented at their jobs. I would like to see change in the administration and counseling areas. The administration is difficult to talk to about issues in the school and is more concerned with student attendance than being accessible to students in need. In addition, the administration doesn't always make decisions that benefit the student population and is sometimes unwilling to compromise with parent volunteers who make plans for student events. As far as counseling goes, Damonte could use some more competent counselors. I never had any issues with my counselor, but I heard many complaints about helpfulness and efficiency from my peers.... Junior: The dual enrollment aspect makes its academics awesome. Students are only required to take 3 high school classes, leaving the rest of the time open to schedule college classes. The HS classes themselves are very unique and unlike any class I've had or expected to have, which is a result of the amazing teachers. However, as a result of dual enrollment, the major focus is on academics, so there are little opportunities outside of it. There is really only 1 HS club in addition to electives, although students may join any CSN clubs, but you can do activities at your zoned school. Because you attend college classes at the same time, it's a great way to get a taste of what college may look like once you graduate while having support from HS resources. Since students are in college, they need to have determination and drive because you are responsible for yourself and there is little parent involvement.
