Senior: York Suburban High School is quite a good school overall, although it does have its flaws. The school excels in academics, with students getting a very high-quality education that leaves them well-prepared for college. The teachers are fantastic, and the core classes are always reliably good. However, the school struggles with its non-academic aspects. The food is mediocre at best and will give you food poisoning at worst. Clubs are few and far between, and the music and art program have been really struggling in recent years. Additionally, school safety is far from where students would like it to be. However, the worst part about the school is its almost complete lack of any school spirit. Senior: Susquehannock has its minor issues as every school does, but overall, the school focuses on its students' education and strives to give each student the best education possible. Multiple AP and elective courses cater to student's specific interests and can help them get a feel for the career they wish to pursue. There are very few incidents within the school, but when something does happen it is handled properly according to what had happened. Senior: I've moved here in my junior year, and I was frankly daunted by the school size. However, each teacher connects with students --with few exceptions-- and truly tries to help everyone. The teachers and the education I received at this school was stellar compared to the many I have been at in the past. The reason why It's missing one star is that it's not perfect, some students fall through the cracks and some aren't disciplined enough. I know of some kids who can't do basic fractions, or writing, and they don't get the special attention they need. Senior: Eastern York High School is a smaller sized school so it is easier to get involved with clubs and sports. This also allows teachers to connect with students and strengthen the teacher-to-student relationship. Our administration focuses on the students' lives and are concerned for our learning which makes the school a positive and enjoyable environment. Senior: Central York school district has been a massive part of my life for the last 13 years. Because of this school district, I met my 5 closest friends, I was able to play the sports that I love most (basketball and volleyball), I was able to get involved in clubs like the National Honors Society, and so much more! Although Covid-19 ruined half of my high school experience, I think the teachers and administration did a great job in trying to keep normalcy there. Junior: As a Junior in SWHS, I think that the school is pretty great! There are minor problems with bullying and questionable behavior, but there are some fantastic people that make you feel so welcome. I am involved in Mini-THON, the Drama Department and the Yearbook Committee, so I get to see a lot of diversity when it comes to the attendance and personalities of everyone else involved. South West can do some amazing things when we set our minds to it. I believe that our student body is very opinionated and stubborn and won't give up until we accomplish what we set out to do. Being involved in the many different organizations around school, I can attest that we have many students who are striving to express their creativity and showcase their amazing talents. Everyone is pretty nice, they accept you for who you are and bring you into a little at-school-family. We care for each other unconditionally and would stand up for each other in a heartbeat.... Junior: I would like to see better resources for college, and more guidance in picking a college. I think that the system of how things are done should be better. The teachers are amazing, at least the ones I’ve had, and are very supportive and understanding. They have helped me in school, but emotionally through my times of need and were very understanding. The sports are average, but spirit is very high. There are many opportunities for clubs in school and out of school. The lunch ladies are the sweetest women ever. Super sweet! I have developed such a relationship with all of them in just three years of being at the high school. Their words are so kind. It’s the little things.
