Parent: Hands down, this is (by far) the best Islamic school in Florida. We have been to (or know students at) many other Islamic schools in Florida, and UAF has the best overall program. The teachers and staff are truly passionate and invested in each of the children, and from day one we were always treated with sincere kindness and valued as individuals. I love the diversity at the school, the fact that UAF provides real-world experiences, and there is a solid balance between academics, religion, and social/emotional well-being. All of the classes challenge the students so they are constantly growing… and the school works very hard to ensure the students are set up for success in the future. From kindergarten through high school, my kids have all had the best educational experience that I could possibly hope for. Senior: I'm a "lifer" at Shorecrest, having been here since Alpha. My experience with the school is perhaps different from students now since there have been many changes both faculty/administration-wise as well as with the newest buildings on campus. Shorecrest introduced me to reading at a very young age. I'm very grateful for that. The quality of education that I have and am receiving is top notch. Middle school prepared me very well for upper school, and now, as a graduating senior, I feel quite confident in my academic abilities. Teachers are just fantastic. The theater and athletics programs are excellent. As a small school, students have the opportunity to be deeply involved in a number of programs, ranging from service clubs to sports to the annual Spring Musical. Being able to do a range of things is important as it allows students to forge their own path by testing different areas out and seeing how they like them. Parent: After my wife and I toured numerous private school options, it was evident that the academic rigor, location, and sense of community at Prep was irreplaceable. Our son is a rising Junior and we cannot be more thrilled with how he has progressed academically, socially, and as a newly minted global citizen (having traveled through Europe via a Tampa Prep based practicum). However, what has amazed us the most, was experiencing the thoughtfulness demonstrated by the faculty, when my son fractured his leg. I was shocked at the number of phone calls we received from the teachers, coaches, etc. They genuinely wanted to understand how they could be supportive throughout his future healing process. It has also become clear that the leadership team is best in class. Alum: I would highly recommend attending Palm Harbor University Highschool, and although there are some things that need to be changed or fixed it was an overall great experience. One major change that I would suggest is with the guidance counselors. Hopefully this year there are fixes. Having to go through 4 counselors my senior year was extremely hard on me because of all that needs to be done with colleges. I also feel like they should care a little more because I went through a heartbreaking and depressing event my junior year, my dad passed away and they all knew yet not a single person at the school checked on me to make sure I was okay, other than teachers I had a good connection with. Senior: I've been at Plant for four years now. Compared to other high schools around Florida, it's a great school! I'll start off with some with some things that could improve. The school is not diverse racially and from what I've seen the administration does not prevent bullying well at all. A majority of my LGBTQ friends have been bullied at some point and nothing has been done to protect them. I personally have not run into a situation as bad as them, so it's not like you're guaranteed to be bullied, but that is something I felt obligated to mention. The school itself is good! The campus is a nice size not too big or small. However, the teachers there are great. I've had some teachers who are average, but I've also had teachers who really cared about their craft and connecting with the students. Freshman: Steinbrenner is amazing! It’s so much fun to come to school everyday. I look forward to sports, my classes, and my friends. The school has a beautiful campus with kind teachers and staff. As a freshman, I wasn’t worried at all coming in. I have friends in all grades and I am excited to have these amazing friendships my first year. Everyone is super welcoming! The one thing I would change, is extracurricular practices. Most of mine and other kids activities have practices that start at 6:30 am. The only thing I would change about this awesome school is the way some sports have practices very early. It makes everyone tired for the rest of the day. But everything else is great! Senior: The staff at Sickles is amazing. Most of the teachers are super welcoming, they care about their students, and you can tell that they love what they do. There's always someone to talk to during difficult times, and their assistance in helping students transition from high school to college is outstanding. Not only is academic growth nurtured at the school, but the staff also encourages social interaction with various clubs and student events. Even with e-learning, Sickles did everything in their power to make sure every student was prepared and supported, regardless of outside circumstances. Sophomore: Osceola has so many positive things going for it! It has very qualified teachers, a strict dress code, unique classes, parent involvement and great sports teams. I feel like it is a mixture between a private school and a public school. Students are selected by applying through a lottery system established by Pinellas County Schools. Applicants are notified in March if they are in or where they are on the wait list. Once you are in, administration guides you though the process and informs you and your parents about everything you need to know about Osceola Fundamental. It is a smooth transition for freshmen and with "open houses" and "Meet your teachers" night, everyone is comfortable with beginning school. Once you are part of Osceola, parents are required to come to one meeting per month. It can be a PTSA, SAC or an Athletic Booster meeting, to stay involved. Niche User: I've been with Wider Horizons School my entire life, since I was in Pre-K. I have to say, everyone I met there was like family, yet the curriculum is not for your average student. The academics are exceptional and prepare you to go to college. The teachers, when I was there, were always kind and helped the students whenever needed. I only wish that the school offered more social programs to make things more exciting. Senior: I was a transfer from another school into CCC so I have the unique ability to compare both Catholic schools I was in. I have never felt more like home than when I stepped foot on this campus. Senior: Dayspring overall is a good school. They care about their students and there grades. They try to help everyone succeed and prepared for college. The only thing that is wrong is that when you get into dual enrollment they don’t seem prepared. Maybe students have been unable to get their AA due to Daysprings mistakes. Dayspring often misses something that screws over the student. They also don’t seem prepared enough for their college students due to not having any classrooms for their classes. The high school has to many kids and the 8th graders should not be there. Dayspring is a good school but isn’t the best or most organized when it comes to their dual enrollment students....
