Senior: Mountain House High School is a great school with teachers who are truly eager to help their students. Most of them give great lectures and provide support to those who need extra help with material. They are very approachable. The students are also nice. It is not very hard to make new friends and to find an accepting community to support you throughout your high school years. Senior: A very good school in not the best part of town. Students and staff are willing to help, although some teachers can be a bit rude. There isn't much encouragement when it comes to academics. People claim to be busy busy and that's why everyone is okay with the massive procrastination and culture of laziness going on. The poor TAs! The emphasis is definitely on extracurriculars, of which there aren't actually that many. If you've heard about how you can get an Associate's degree here, it's true. Our student-teacher ratio is so high because our many professors aren't accounted for in that metric. Still, classes of 30+ students are normal. Alum: I graduated here with IB diploma. Overall it's a great school in terms of academics. IB courses are difficult but it definitely prepares you for college (and if you score well enough on IB exams, you can skip some college classes). Admission to here is difficult, it took me for about 8 months to be enrolled from waitlist. Teachers are generally nice and are willing to help students. But some does not respect boundaries and are notoriously disrespectful (if you studied TOK in DP), you know who I am talking about. Other than that, the food is terrible, there are no meat and the food taste pretty bad. Also, the worst thing is the LOCATION. PE is very fun but there are no designated region to play sports. So we either played inside the St. Mary's Church, or outdoor parks like Fremont. Senior: My overall experience with Aspire Benjamin Holt College Preparatory Academy has constantly shifted and spiraled throughout the years. As a young freshman seeking to experience the epic high and lows of high school, I was disappointed when I learned my school didn't even have a football team. I quickly came to the realization that this would not be the typical high school experience and spent most of my freshman year with a poor attitude towards my school. My school instead focuses on implementing college classes into our school rather than sports and clubs. Eventually, I came to appreciate my school because of all the college credits I now have. As a senior I realize this school has set me up in the best way possible, and there is no other school that goes so far to actually build college classes into students schedule, and take away the stress of having to take these extra classes on your own. Junior: The staff at Tracy High are welcoming and friendly - though they do have their days. I would say I have had mainly positive experiences with my teachers in my time being here, but because of the teacher shortage I have found that some of the teachers at Tracy High do not carry out their job as well as some others. There are a few teachers that make the school extremely special and worth attending. They teach with rigor and enthusiasm and make learning fun and enjoyable - but not too easygoing. It’s the perfect amount of easy and difficult so you learn how to do things independently. I think the quality of their teaching is so immaculate that sometimes I wonder why they are teaching here and not at universities. I can tell how much they enjoy their jobs and how they enjoy helping and interacting with the students. While the school isn’t quite perfect, there is some charm and some beauty to it. Senior: Pacific Law Academy, often known as PLA, is a college preparatory high-school. To be a full-time student, you must be a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior, but seventh and eighth graders at the nearby school (Kohls) has the chance to come to PLA for a period to partake in Algebra 1 and get ahead. The school is small of about 200 or so students, so everyone almost knows one another. As a result of this small school, teachers interact more with students and provide more academic support. However, unlike most high schools, we do not follow the "block" schedule. Instead, we have seven classes year-round (one of them being advisory). So this can be quite demanding, but also helpful in a way that you don't have to spend an hour and more in one course. Junior: While hating on one's school, being negative or picky, or having irritation with schools is oddly a popular trend amongst students, one does not have the chance to jump on the hate bandwagon if they go to Millennium. Millennium Charter School offers amazing classes, taught by phenomenal teachers such as Harvard, Stanford, and USC alums, and resources that former MHS students preach made them extremely college ready, especially compared to their undergraduate peers. While school culture can be improved when it comes to rallies, spirit, and more, that problem sort of lies on default teen embarrassment of being excited about something. Millennium's environment is extremely welcoming and helpful, and administration and staff ensures all students are protected, doing their best, and have the most beneficial material available to them. Senior: I started attending Lodi High School as a Junior, and made friends immediately. You can make friends with anyone, but you should choose your friends wisely. I LOVE all of the staff and am so glad I won the position of Associated Student Body President. I love talking with random kids I don’t know, because they always open up when you show that you’re invested in a true conversation with them. It’s a joy to see students light up and become happier with COVID ending and us all being in school together. The faculty are fun, care for their students education, and make a difference in their student’s lives. I wish to see how certain kids act towards each other, themselves, and their teachers change. There have been a lot of fire drills because of vaping in our bathrooms. We do have an app, posters, and reminders on school items for safety and mental health related things.
